Job description

Intrepid Solutions is seeking a Platform Engineer with expertise in Kubernetes (K8s) and cloud-native technologies to help design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure on AWS and TKS.  This position will be supporting a newly awarded multi-year contract, located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Istio, Keycloak, MinIO, Vault, Terraform, and ArgoCD and can deploy and optimize containerized applications in a distributed environment. In this role you will contribute Kubernetes platform capabilities to facilitate streamlined use of AWS cloud and enterprise resources. You will interface directly with tenants offering architectural guidance to optimize for cost and performance. Utilizing cutting edge cloud native tools these systems will be responsible for processing and exploitation of large volumes of sensor data that meaningfully contribute to our national defense. 


  • Deployment, configuration, and management of Kubernetes clusters on AWS (EKS) and VM Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG)
  • Research, design, and implement scalable and secure cloud-native infrastructure
  • Maintain networking and security configurations for Kubernetes environments
  • Optimize cluster performance, resource allocation, and cost efficiency, working with similarly aligned teams within the organization
  • Develop and maintain Terraform modules to provision and manage infrastructure components across AWS and TKG
  • Implement GitOps workflows with ArgoCD to enable automated deployments
  • Set up and maintain monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus and Grafana, and implement alerting mechanisms to minimize downtime
  • Troubleshooting issues, and documenting solutions.

OPERATING HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • This is a full-time on-site position, with standard operating hours Monday - Friday, unless otherwise indicated during the interview process.

TRAVEL:

  • Position does not require travel.

CLEARANCE:

  • Active Top Secret / SCI required upon application for initial consideration.  ***This position is not open for any clearance upgrades, reactivation, or sponsorship. ***

 EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.

CERTIFICATION(S): 

  • Must possess Security+ or equivalent IAT Level 2 or higher certification.
  • Cloud Certification is a plus.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of minimum experience in a software focused engineering career (Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, System Administrator, etc).
  • Experience with EKS, S3, and EC2; experience deploying and managing workloads on TKG.
  • Proficiency in the deployment, scaling, and management on AWS EKS and TKG.
  • Experience with Istio for traffic management and security.
  • Knowledge of Keycloak for access management.
  • Experience with Vault for secrets management.
  • Writing, maintaining, and optimizing Terraform modules for cloud infrastructure deployments on AWS and TKG
  • Experience with utilizing ArgoCD for deployment and management of Kubernetes applications, using GitOps methodologies
  • CI/CD experience.
  • Proven track record of being a reliable and knowledgeable team member, with experience in troubleshooting and performance optimization.

The actual salary offered may vary based on various factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, education, geographic location, as well as internal equity, and alignment to market data.

Pay Range: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
