Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced SQL Support Engineer for a short-term contract opportunity. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day KTLO (Keep The Lights On) ticket support, handling change requests, and assisting with on-premise to Azure SQL database migrations. Additionally, this role will involve close collaboration with the R&D team to pkrovide support and technical insight as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle KTLO (Keep The Lights On) support tickets, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining system performance and reliability.
  • Address and implement change requests as per business or technical requirements.
  • Participate in the planning, execution, and support of on-premises to Azure SQL database migrations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly R&D, to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in database performance, integrity, security, and availability.
  • Document support resolutions, migration steps, and any other technical processes involved.
  • Provide post-migration support and knowledge transfer as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server (on-premise) and Azure SQL databases.
  • Proven experience in database administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting SQL-related issues.
  • Experience working with KTLO support environments and ticket-based support systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow).
  • Experience with data migration projects, especially from on-prem SQL to Azure cloud platforms.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices related to SQL deployments.
  • Previous experience working with R&D or product development teams.
