Job description

General Overview of Position Under the direction of the Maintenance Superintendent, aid in physical upkeep of library facilities. The primary responsibility of this position is to clean the Kenosha Public Library facilities and have them ready for day to day operation. Primary duties consist of daily scheduled cleaning with some deep cleaning assignments.

The ideal candidate will work well independently as well as in a group setting. Tasks will vary from day to day in addition to a set schedule of daily tasks. *Please Note: This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with the job.

Example of Duties & Responsibilities Essential Job Functions General cleaning of public and staff areas of library facilities Project work as assigned driven by specific building needs Service, sanitize, and supply staff and public restrooms Grounds care / snow removal Use of power equipment associated with cleaning. Mix chemicals for cleaning safely Clean windows, flat surfaces, machines, and equipment Strip and wax floors, with direction from building maintenance staff Low and high dusting of shelves, ledges, machines, and equipment Use of carpet extractor.

Move furniture in minor frequency for cleaning while assisted Change light bulbs that can be reached with a 6ft fiberglass ladder Clean by mopping or scrubbing floors daily Dust mopping hard floors Collect and remove garbage from cans and empty into the dumpster Clean furniture with a spot cleaner Spot clean walls and partitions Alert direct supervisor of any safety or security concerns Reporting relationship Reports to the Maintenance Superintendent FLSA Status Non-Exempt Eligible to Telework No Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Basic custodial knowledge and skill The ability to operate various equipment that pertains to cleaning of public facilities The ability to communicate effectively with co-workers Communicate and calculate the amount of supplies needed to perform tasks Understand and utilize protective equipment needed to perform cleaning tasks in a safe manner. Physical and Working Conditions: Far vision at 20 feet or further; near vision at 20 inches or less. Talking and hearing. Sitting, standing, walking, climbing (including stairs) and stooping, bending, twisting and reaching (up, across, and down).

Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Keyboarding, writing, filing, sorting, shelving, processing, and picking up and shelving books. Lifting and carrying: 50 pounds or less.

Pushing and pulling: objects weighing up to 60-80lbs pounds on wheels. Able to work in enclosed space and remote locations for extended periods of time. Able to work at all library branches and other service locations, as needed.

Able to work in environmental conditions which may include exposure to dust, dirt, heat, cold, noise, fumes, odors, vibrations, wetness and humidity, and temperature changes. Able to use the following: audiovisual equipment, building security systems, calculator, computer workstation, copy machine, scan station, telephone, and other readily available technology.
