Job Overview
Assist in engineering projects and evaluations under the guidance of senior staff, contributing to product development, process improvements, and cross-functional support while actively engaging in learning opportunities and team collaboration.
Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Perform in engineering projects to develop, maintain and support components, products and/or services per market demands, as well as for continual process improvements.
  2. Perform or conduct engineering evaluations including investigations, basic calculations and tests that have broadly defined requirements and desired outcomes.
  3. Participate in provided Learning and Development opportunities and seek out new learning opportunities, both inside and outside of the organization, to benefit oneself and the overall organization.
  4. Work as part of a team to complete broadly defined work on-time and to specifications.
  5. Engage in effective communication of engineering issues to ensure compliance with broadly defined global standards and engineering best practices.
  6. Participate in and support improvements to streamline engineering processes used to design, develop, maintain and support components, products, and/or services.
  7. Perform product support tasks with cross-functional business partners in Sales, Service, Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality.

Predominant Tasks
  1. Prepare design layouts, models, and other engineering specifications to satisfy broadly defined requirements.
  2. Set-up and perform engineering tests as directed to satisfy broadly defined requirements.
  3. Perform basic engineering calculations that are relevant to design modifications and new developments.
  4. Take responsibility both one's own learning and the development of others for the mutual benefit of oneself and the organization.
  5. Work as part of a team supporting projects for orders or development projects.
  6. Apply and check global regulations and safety compliance requirements for designs originating from oneself.
  7. Provide information as directed for creation of Technical Reports and Service Bulletins
  8. Make field trips to manufacturing facilities to observe machines during the build process. Provide technical assistance to manufacturing with respect to specification originating from self.

Qualifications/Requirements
  1. Certification in Technology or equivalent relevant discipline, required.
  2. 5 years' experience in machine design, machine application, mining industry, desired.
  3. Proficient in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) tools, desired.
  4. Participation in implementing Lean Engineering principles, desired.
  5. Participation in effective Change Management implementation, desired.
  6. Experience in focused team assignment(s), desired.
  7. Subscription to CAD related technical publications, beneficial.

Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. Pay starting at $66,600. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
