You will establish regional policies and control frameworks, monitor compliance performance, oversee FTZ governance, and partner with internal teams, customs brokers, and service providers to drive continuous improvement. This position provides functional leadership within a matrixed organization and does not perform daytoday customs operations.

What You Will Do

  • Provide regional governance and oversight of import/export and customs compliance activities across North American entities.
  • Implement and localize global trade compliance policies, procedures, and control requirements.
  • Monitor compliance performance, identify risks, and escalate issues to the Sr. Director, KNA Compliance.
  • Establish governance models, escalation protocols, and accountability frameworks for operating companies.
  • Prepare compliance metrics, activity reports, and incident reports for regional and global leadership.
  • Support internal and external audits, including CBP audits and global compliance reviews, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Define standards for customs brokerage, recordkeeping, FTA documentation, and transactional compliance.
  • Oversee controls related to transaction validation, broker charges, and duty payments.
  • Govern HTS classification standards and escalation processes to ensure consistency across North America.
  • Ensure operating companies have procedures and guidance for customs clearance issues, postentry adjustments, and PGA requirements.
  • Align trade compliance governance with transportation and logistics operations.
  • Develop regional reporting processes and train affiliate leaders on reporting requirements.
  • Support budgeting processes and standardize compliance program development, including SOPs and training.
  • Coordinate with service providers, distribution centers, and Kubota international entities on compliance matters.
  • Lead regional capability building through training, knowledge sharing, and continuing education.
  • Oversee FTZ governance, including CBP reporting, annual filings, ICRS controls, and inventory compliance.
  • Provide functional leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to Trade Compliance personnel across the region.
  • Foster collaboration and alignment among North American entities to ensure consistent application of compliance policies and controls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or related field.
  • 7–10 years of experience in trade compliance or a similar role.
  • Licensed Customs Broker strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problemsolving ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with a global trade management platform (e.g., Integration Point / Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Global Trade, SAP GTS) and SAP preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing import/export compliance execution in North America.
  • Extensive knowledge of import regulations (CTPAT, FTAs, USMCA, EPA, ISF).
  • Working knowledge of U.S. export controls (EAR/ITAR), ECCN classification, and restricted-party/sanctions screening.
  • Practical experience supporting FTZ operations and related controls.
  • Strong knowledge of HTS classification and INCOTERMS.
