Job description

Pre-Production II is the dedicated kitting role for Assembly. This coordinator tracks work flowing out of metal finishing, anticipates what Assembly will need next, and builds complete, ready-to-build kits so assemblers can focus on building fixtures.
This role is the critical link between finishing and the assembly bench, and its success is measured by how smoothly assembly runs.
Key Responsibilities
Kit Building for Assembly
  • Track parts as they come off metal finishing (plating, powder coat, hand polish, patina) and reconcile them to pending assembly orders
  • Assemble complete kits per fixture BOM, including finished metal components, glass, wood, fasteners, and hardware
  • Stage kits in the correct sequence and location for Assembly, with clear identification and any drawings or build notes included

Electrical Components & Pre-Assemblies
  • Pull UL-listed electrical components (sockets, wire, strain reliefs, drivers, LED modules, transformers) per fixture specification and revision
  • Build or stage required sub-assemblies (socket harnesses, pre-wired modules, canopy assemblies) to support assembly flow
  • Confirm that electrical parts match the listed build and flag any substitutions before release

Flow & Communication
  • Partner with metal finishing daily to understand timing and plan kitting accordingly
  • Communicate shortages, damaged parts, or finish issues early to Pre-Production, Procurement, and Quality
  • Support prototype and custom builds with one-off kitting as needed

System & Record Keeping
  • Execute kitting transactions in WMS and NetSuite to maintain accurate part-to-job tracking and inventory
  • Maintain clean, organized, and clearly labeled staging areas
Required Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience in kitting, assembly support, or production material handling
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMs and build lists
  • Familiarity with basic electrical components used in lighting or similar products
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to catch discrepancies before assembly
  • Comfort working with ERP / WMS systems and scanners
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 40 lbs throughout the shift
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in lighting, electrical assembly, or UL-listed products
  • Familiarity with UL 1598 / UL 8750 or general electrical standards
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar systems
  • Basic soldering or mechanical pre-assembly experience
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 annually (based on experience)
  • Eligible for discretionary annual bonus
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Employer-paid life and disability insurance
  • Safety shoe and eyewear allowance
  • Employee discount on Allied Maker products
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • On-site at the Glen Cove workshop
  • Primary work areas include kitting zones and staging lanes adjacent to assembly
  • Active shop-floor environment; safety glasses and closed-toe footwear required
  • Requires standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive handling of small parts
  • Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs
