Job description

Overview
Armory Technician (SWFPAC):
Bowhead seeks an Armory Technician to as the technical and administrative authority for the storage, maintenance, and issuance of weapons and ammunition supporting the Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific (SWFPAC) and Marine Corps Security Force Battalion (MCSFBn) logistics department at Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor, WA.

Responsibilities
Essential functions will include:
  • Handles high-level administration, focus is on the daily readiness and physical accountability of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (A&E) assets.
  • Verify eligibility and authorize the breakout of A&E for security personnel; conduct functional checks upon weapon turn-in to identify damage or misuse.
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic repairs on small arms and crew-served weapons.
  • Conduct daily, monthly, and quarterly "sight" inventories to ensure zero loss of sensitive items.
  • Organize and secure munitions in accordance with local safety and security risk category policies.
  • Monitor intruder detection systems (IDS), maintain security logs, and use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling hazardous materials during maintenance.
  • Ensuring strict compliance of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (A&E) regulations.
  • Maintaining 100% accountability of all conventional arms, ammunition, and explosives in accordance with OPNAVINST 5530.13D
  • Coordinating the receipt, storage, and issuance of munitions and small arms;, cleaning, and functional testing of weapon systems.
  • Support MCSFBn range operations and urban combat training by ensuring timely delivery of ammunition and operable gear.
  • Managing inventory records, ammunition condition reports, and quality deficiency documentation
  • Issuing, distributing, receiving, and storing weapons and collateral equipment as required and conduct inventories on optics/sighting systems, and collateral equipment, IAW DOD, Marine, and Navy regulations and directives.
  • Ensuring weapon(s) are issued to authorized individuals (with appropriate weapons card) after ensuring the individuals are qualified and familiarized with the weapon from Government provided roster.
  • Provide a monthly report of all weapons, optics/sighting systems, and corresponding
  • equipment (serial number, model and individual issued) to include location of individual will be provided by the Government and incorporated into the report.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum one to three (1-3) years of experience in a military armory or law enforcement ordnance setting.
  • Hands-on experience with the disassembly, reassembly, and troubleshooting of standard-issue military firearms.
  • Practical experience following OPNAV or Marine Corps A&E regulations.
  • Enrollment in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), which requires high standards of mental and physical stability, ethical conduct, and emotional maturity.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Graduation from a service-specific Armorer Course or Small Arms Maintenance school.
  • Have written and oral communications abilities commensurate with this management role.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, Government Representative, and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

Environment
  • Armory Technician is required to be on-site.
  • Work areas consist of office and non-office settings such supply, and transportation facilities.
  • Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, protective-toe footwear, gloves, and hearing protection as required.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
