Essential Duties

Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Performs all work in a safe manner; promotes and fosters a safe work environment.
  2. Walk around Review: Observe performance, line conditions, CILS, Safety, Quality and Coaching of employees.
  3. Review Key Performance Indicators (OEE, Yield, Material Variance and Utilization) daily and weekly report. Action plan to reduce the top three (3) losses of waste/time on your shift.
  4. Review Production Report for Errors.
  5. Check staffing at the beginning of each shift and monitor absences. Document attendance and file with Human Resources.
  6. Coaching employees to ensure consistency with policy and procedures. Communicate employee concerns with Production Manager and Human Resources.
  7. Responsible for Employee Hours records: Time and Attendance
  8. Assist other shifts (or off-shifts) with SAP corrections.
  9. Assist Operators with computer problems and feedback issues to IT support.
  10. Ensure schedule adherence. Feedback planning suggestions and improvement to Planning Team.
  11. Work alongside management team to achieve site targets for OTIF, labor and material variances.
  12. Work alongside Quality technician to ensure products are within specifications and quality control testing is being carried out.
  13. Complete shift reports and attach process conditions for the lines.
  14. Keep Management informed of process and general production issues.
  15. Attend meetings and communicate meeting notes to production floor.
  16. Respond to and report any near miss, injury, accident or property damage to Safety Lead and Human Resources. Start the investigation and paperwork.
  17. Complete TAKT Whiteboards using report information.
  18. Lead daily control room meeting; discuss issues across the plant.
  19. Attend daily shift handover meeting with peer Supervisor and Area Lead. (Morning)
  20. Responsible for Safety Toolbox Talks.
  21. Conduct Single Event Analysis administration; ensure details are gathered and documented.
  22. Safety program management; ensure all employees have complete criteria.
  23. Plan staffing one week ahead of next shift; consider certified areas, training, and time off requests. Post overtime as needed.
  24. Run 5s improvement projects, highlighting the areas that need improvement and action from your team to implement the 5s program.
  25. Complete special projects as needed.

Supervisory Duties: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Must have at least five (5) years of plant experience, to include supervisory experience.

Must have:

  • Experience with business computer applications (Microsoft Office). SAP or similar software experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of production process to include conversion/extrusion.
  • Strong leadership skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Effective communication skills, effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Must be able to:

  • Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Work in a team-based environment.
  • Work shift schedule, including overtime. May be assigned to other shifts as needed. Shift schedule may include late nights and weekends.
  • Set and manage multiple priorities.
  • Complete forklift certification program
  • Follow directions and get along well with others.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to communicate orally and written in English.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures by using basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide).

Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
