What are Kingsbury bearings and what are they used for?

Kingsbury bearings are a type of hydrodynamic thrust bearing invented by Albert Kingsbury in the early 20th century. They are designed to support axial loads and are commonly used in heavy machinery, such as turbines, compressors, and marine propulsion systems. These bearings use a film of oil to create a low-friction interface, allowing for efficient operation and long service life. Kingsbury bearings are valued for their reliability, high load capacity, and ability to operate under demanding conditions.
