As of Aug 21, 2026, the average yearly pay for kinetic energy in the United States is $98,160.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $75,500.00 and $117,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are kinetic energy jobs?

Kinetic energy jobs are roles involved in the study, generation, and application of kinetic energy—the energy an object possesses due to its motion. These roles can be found in industries such as engineering, renewable energy, automotive, aerospace, and physics research. Professionals working in this field may design systems that harness or convert kinetic energy, such as wind turbines, vehicle braking systems, or energy storage devices. Their work helps advance energy efficiency, sustainability, and innovative technologies that utilize motion to generate power.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a kinetic energy specialist?

To thrive as a Kinetic Energy Specialist, you need a strong background in physics, engineering, and energy systems, often supported by a degree in mechanical or energy engineering. Familiarity with simulation software, energy modeling tools, and industry certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) are typically required. Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients. These competencies are vital for designing, optimizing, and implementing kinetic energy solutions that enhance efficiency and sustainability in various industries.

What are some common challenges faced by kinetic energy engineers when working on renewable energy projects?

Kinetic Energy Engineers often encounter challenges such as optimizing energy capture from variable natural sources like wind or water, ensuring system reliability in fluctuating conditions, and integrating new technologies with existing infrastructure. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental scientists and electrical engineers, is essential to address these challenges. Additionally, staying current with regulatory requirements and emerging industry standards requires ongoing learning and adaptation.

What is the difference between Kinetic Energy vs Mechanical Engineer?

AspectKinetic EnergyMechanical Engineer
Required CredentialsNone specific; basic physics knowledgeBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
Work EnvironmentPhysics labs, research settings, educational environmentsManufacturing, design offices, R&D labs
Industry UsagePhysics, education, researchEngineering, manufacturing, product development

While Kinetic Energy is a physics concept describing energy due to motion, Mechanical Engineers apply principles like kinetic energy to design and analyze mechanical systems. Understanding kinetic energy helps Mechanical Engineers optimize machinery and mechanical processes.

Job description

Kinetic Design + Development is looking for a Design Coordinator to join the Krew.
NOTE: This position is available as a hybrid, remote or in office position depending on candidate location
If you're a designer who thrives in both the creative and technical sides of the process, this role is for you.
As a Design Coordinator at Kinetic, you'll help lead the design and development of corporate architectural projects from concept through completion. Working closely with Project Managers, Account Managers, and clients, you'll bring ideas to life through innovative, functional, and visually engaging spaces. You'll balance design vision with technical precision, translating client goals into buildable, code-compliant realities while mentoring others and keeping projects moving smoothly. This is a hands-on, collaborative role where creativity meets execution.
Who You Are
You're a confident and detail-driven designer who loves the craft of architecture as much as the process of bringing people and ideas together. You're collaborative, adaptable, and proactive-equally comfortable mentoring teammates, running design charrettes, and rolling up your sleeves on production work. You communicate clearly, stay organized under pressure, and genuinely enjoy problem-solving. Your creativity is balanced by a deep technical understanding of how things get built, and you're motivated by the opportunity to deliver work that inspires both clients and colleagues.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the design and production of corporate architectural projects from schematic design through construction documents
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Project Managers, and consultants to ensure seamless coordination across disciplines
  • Execute and review full drawing sets, details, and technical documentation for complex, large-scale projects
  • Prepare and present schematic and design development-level client presentations
  • Conduct field measurements and create existing conditions documentation to Kinetic standards
  • Mentor and support junior production staff in their design and documentation efforts
  • Ensure quality control and code compliance at each project stage
  • Participate in design charrettes, research design solutions, and explore innovative systems or code interpretations
  • Manage BIM models and team collaboration within Revit
  • Attend client meetings, take detailed notes, and help shape design decisions based on client goals and project requirements
  • Stay informed on building codes, zoning, and sustainability practices to ensure projects meet all requirements

Tools You'll Use
Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and rendering software
What You'll Bring
  • Degree from a NAAB-accredited architecture program or accredited interior design program
  • Typically 6+ years of relevant experience in architectural design and documentation
  • Advanced knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and rendering software
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and other Creative Suite applications
  • Strong understanding of building systems, codes, materials, and construction methods
  • Experience producing detailed construction drawings, building sections, and custom details for large, complex projects
  • Proven ability to manage BIM workflows and coordinate across teams
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • A passion for design excellence, creative problem-solving, and collaborative teamwork
