Job description

Reflex Performance Resources Inc., a leading activewear design and sourcing company, is expanding our Kids’ Activewear division and seeking a creative, detail-driven Childrenswear Designer, Junior Level to join our New York City team.

If you love designing playful yet elevated apparel and want hands-on experience building commercially successful kids collections, this role is for you.

This is a full-time, in-office position working closely with the Senior Childrenswear Designer and cross-functional development teams.

Position Overview

The Childrenswear Designer, Junior Level will support the development of seasonal collections across apparel categories, helping bring trend-forward, comfortable, and commercially viable kidswear to market.

This role blends creativity and execution. You will assist in concept development while also owning technical design deliverables such as flats, tech packs, and seasonal materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing seasonal Childrenswear activewear collections (apparel, prints, trims, and details)
  • Create CAD sketches and technical flats in Adobe Illustrator
  • Support development of tech packs and production-ready design packages
  • Research trends, colors, fabrics, and silhouettes specific to the kids’ market
  • Help build design boards and seasonal presentations
  • Collaborate with product development and production teams to ensure design feasibility
  • Assist with fabric and trim selection
  • Organize seasonal samples and maintain design files
  • Ensure designs balance creativity, comfort, durability, and commercial appeal
  • Support timeline management to meet design and production calendars

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in Childrenswear apparel design preferred
  • Strong Adobe Illustrator skills (technical flats required)
  • Understanding of garment construction, grading, and kids’ fit principles
  • Passion for color, storytelling, and age-appropriate design
  • Awareness of fabric performance and comfort in activewear
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple deadlines
  • Collaborative, positive, and receptive to feedback
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.

Experience with high-volume retail programs or global production cycles is a plus.
