JOB SUMMARY:

The Kid Zone Lead is a part of our club's leadership team and is responsible for creating a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment for our little members and Kid Zone team members. With a genuine passion for working with children, our Lead oversees daily operations of the Kid Zone programs, staff scheduling, onboarding, and all program oversight. The Kid Zone Lead serves as a primary point of contact for parents and guardians, ensuring consistent communication and high-quality experiences for our little members and families. By developing a well-trained, accountable, and supportive team, the Kid Zone Lead directly contributes to positive little member experiences, member trust, and overall member satisfaction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Maintain a safe environment through correct implementation of safety policies and procedures
  • Observe and monitor the activities of team members and all children in the Kid Zone
  • Maintain procedural processes in record keeping systems
  • Organize and participate in activities and special events
  • Responsible for following and adhering to the In-Shape Clean Approach
  • Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas
  • Support social development, encourage understanding of others and positive self-concepts with all children
  • Ensure only authorized personnel enter the Kid Zone area
  • Assist in building our community of members through a consistent member experience
  • During the season, where applicable, monitor the pool and slide as needed and enforce slide rules at all times
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings as needed

Leadership and Team Development

  • Coach, mentor, and support Kid Zone team members to enhance skills, performance, and accountability
  • Ensure team members are engaging children in activities that promote healthy habits
  • Serve as an ambassador for the KZ team, effectively communicating team feedback, concerns, and opportunities to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager (AGM)
  • Support the General Manager with scheduling and proactively addressing coverage needs resulting from absences or operational demands
  • Assist in identifying positive performance trends and opportunities for improvement to enhance Kid Zone efficiency and service quality

Operational Duties

  • Ensure all policies and procedures of the Kid Zone are followed by staff, children, and parents/members
  • Resolve concerns/problems ensuring our members' needs are met and company guidelines are followed
  • Partner with the General Manager and AGM to maintain appropriate inventory levels of cleaning supplies and operational materials
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support overall club operations

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS - WHO YOU ARE:

  • Pre-school or day care experience desired
  • Flexible/positive attitude in meeting and exceeding our members' expectations
  • Patience and creative energy to work with children as well as a high tolerance for childhood behaviors
  • Physical stamina to care for groups of energetic, young children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; works well under pressure, time constraints and displays positive behavior in all member interactions with both kids and parents
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor team members in a child watch or youth-program setting
  • Willing and able to work a flexible shift: evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
  • Current CPR or ability to pass CPR certification within 30 days of hire
  • Must be Trustline registered; In-Shape will facilitate this upon acceptance of offer of employment
  • First Aid Training (required only at clubs with pool slides)

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to walk, stand, and move throughout club facilities and outdoor areas for up to 8 hours per day, and may also sit for extended periods for planning and administrative work. Team members may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, pool chemicals, dust, noise, temperature fluctuations (hot and cold environments), and airborne particles, and will be required to wear designated personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed.

Team members are frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grip, and operate tools and equipment; reach, push, and pull with arms and hands; occasional climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to bend and twist, including side-to-side movements. The team member may be required to lift, carry, or move up to 25 pounds, will often be required to lift, carry, or move 26-50 pounds.
