Job Description

This position has the opportunity to make a direct impact to Intuitive US marketing initiatives that deliver da Vinci Surgery to patients worldwide. With the direction and leadership of the US Clinical Marketing leaders, you will help shape the clinical strategy & execution of the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB), Foregut and other clinical initiatives that drive adoption of da Vinci Surgery among customers. You will also be a valued contributor to the team.  

Essential Job Duties.

As part of the US Clinical Marketing team, this position will be responsible for development and coordination of various strategic and tactical clinical marketing initiatives to drive procedure growth within the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary and Foregut business.  The individual will be expected to establish strong relationships with the sales team, external Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), as well as internal Intuitive stakeholders such as other marketing departments, sales, training, clinical affairs, legal & regulatory, and Market Access/Health Economics.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish quarterly and annual business priorities with members of the Clinical marketing team, and with the leadership of Sales, Training and Clinical Affairs departments.

  • Help lead and shape the Clinical Marketing team to develop, lead, and implement the marketing strategic plan, key programs, and support to drive procedure adoption of da Vinci Surgery amongst target HPB & Foregut surgeons to achieve budgeted growth goals.

  • Actively collaborate & contribute to the clinical marketing team, embracing the Intuitive culture and employee professional development process. 

  • Work closely with leadership to establish financial budget and resource allocation, and consistently use data and analytics to drive strategic and tactical decisions as well as to justify programs through ROI metrics.

  • Proactively lead cross-functional teams to deliver high value marketing projects and programs, with multiple projects running simultaneously to support your team members & annual goals. 

  • Define and Implement strategy and tactics to better educate the sales reps and surgeons on the clinical value of da Vinci platform for various complex surgery procedures, establish and drive Clinical Validation activities with clinical outcomes data.

  • Develop comprehensive go-to-market plans in established & novel procedural areas that include multiple cross-functional stakeholders. 

  • Work closely with Market access teams, Health Economics teams, and KOL surgeons to define and implement overall Value and Economic validation of da Vinci procedures, develop reference sites, establish additional claims, etc.

  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with relevant surgical societies and their leadership such as AHPBA, SSO, AFS and more to integrate clinical and educational activities around da Vinci procedures.

  • Lead collaboration with cross-functional teams to define, develop and implement Intuitive’s presence at key conferences, including robotics symposia, postgraduate (PG) courses, fellowship programs, live surgical broadcasts, booth presence, and promotion.

  • Partner with leadership to continue establishing the CONNECT forum as the ultimate destination event for robotic surgeons looking to maximize the impact of da Vinci technology in their practice. 

  • Work with Training department to identify and support the development of new training programs to meet our procedure adoption goals. Work with key surgeon champions to drive competency and excellence in utilization of da Vinci® Surgery. 

  • Collaborate with corporate marketing teams and digital marketing groups to optimize HPB & Foregut marketing through digital channels and to key segments (physicians, patients, etc.) 

  • Lead internal (sales) and external (customer) communication plans for key programs, relevant launches, etc. to maximize impact on the complex market’s procedure growth. 

  • Collaborate with sales training on content creation and deployment for existing and new sales employees.

  • Lead the team in establishing KOL relationships to better align and communicate da Vinci value propositions to physicians, patients, etc.  And with the goal of making Intuitive the preferred industry partner to work with.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 8 plus years overall of marketing and/or sales experience in a therapeutic medical device company preferred. 

  • A proven record of achievement and leadership.

  • Results-driven attitude & a resolve to win; must be self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Great presentation skills including ability to present to large customer groups, executives, or sales team members.

  • Proven ability to solve open-ended problems and work cross-functionally to implement initiatives.

  • Superior verbal/written communication and presentation skills, teambuilding, and interpersonal skills to work across multiple constituents.

  • Must be well versed in MS Office Suite.

Required Education and Training 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or Master’s degree preferred.

Working Conditions 

  • Ability to travel extensively (50%) and work remotely.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target base compensation ranges are listed.

Base Salary Range Region 1:$188,400 - $271,000
Base Salary Range Region 2: $169,600 - $243,900

Workplace Type: Remote - This job will be remote and/or the job is designed to be performed outside of the office. Employees will come onsite when requested by the leader.
