How much do robot assisted surgery jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 30, 2026, the average hourly pay for robot assisted surgery in the United States is $28.24, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $22.12 and $32.93 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How do you become a robot surgery operator?

To become a robot surgery operator, individuals typically need a background in healthcare, such as nursing or surgical technology, along with specialized training in robotic systems like the da Vinci Surgical System. Certification or hands-on training programs are often required to develop the necessary skills to operate robotic surgical equipment safely and effectively.

What is the highest paid job in robotics?

In robotics, the highest paid roles are often senior robotics engineers, robotics directors, or research scientists with advanced degrees and specialized skills in areas like artificial intelligence and automation. These positions typically require extensive experience, advanced certifications, and leadership responsibilities, with salaries reaching six figures or higher depending on the industry and location.

What are some common challenges faced by team members in robot-assisted surgery roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals working in robot-assisted surgery often encounter challenges such as mastering rapidly evolving technologies, ensuring seamless collaboration between surgeons, nurses, and technical staff, and maintaining patient safety during complex procedures. Addressing these challenges typically involves ongoing training, regular simulation exercises, and clear communication protocols within the surgical team. Many institutions also offer mentorship programs and encourage cross-disciplinary knowledge sharing to help team members stay current and work efficiently together.

What is robot assisted surgery?

Robot assisted surgery is a type of minimally invasive surgery in which surgeons use robotic systems to perform complex procedures with enhanced precision, flexibility, and control. The surgeon operates the robot from a console, controlling its arms and instruments while viewing a high-definition, 3D image of the surgical site. This technology can allow for smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, and quicker recovery times compared to traditional open surgery. Robot assisted surgery is commonly used in urology, gynecology, cardiac, and general surgery.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Robot Assisted Surgery, and why are they important?

To excel in Robot Assisted Surgery, you need a medical degree with surgical training, board certification, and specialized experience or fellowship in minimally invasive and robotic procedures. Mastery of robotic surgery platforms such as the da Vinci Surgical System, along with certification in robotic techniques, is typically required. Strong hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, and clear communication are essential soft skills for ensuring patient safety and effective teamwork. These competencies are critical for leveraging advanced technology to improve surgical outcomes and minimize patient risk.

Will robots take surgeons jobs?

Robot-assisted surgery is designed to enhance surgeons' precision and reduce invasiveness, but it does not replace surgeons. Surgeons are still essential for planning, decision-making, and managing complex cases, and they require specialized training to operate robotic systems. The technology supports, rather than replaces, the surgeon's role in the operating room.

What is the leading company in robotic surgery?

Intuitive Surgical is the leading company in robotic surgery, known for its da Vinci Surgical System used in minimally invasive procedures. The company invests heavily in research, training, and certification for surgeons to ensure safe and effective use of its robotic platforms.

What is the difference between Robot Assisted Surgery vs Surgical Technologist?
