Job description

Mill Operator - Munson Lakes

Pay: $26.00/HR per hour plus Shift Differential: $3.00 per hour

Shift & Working Hours: 2nd Shift; 3:00PM to 11:00PM; Weekends/Overtime as needed.

Location: Howard Lake, MN: This role will be with Munson Lakes Nutrition (MLN), a joint venture with Land O' Lakes (LOL). As such, the role will be an employee of MLN and not LOL.

In this role, you will be a key member of Munson Lakes Nutrition manufacturing team, performing front-line production processes that add value and quality to the inputs and creation of final high-quality products. You will gain skills and experience of taking raw materials to produce our final products for customers. This will include operating machinery and equipment, packaging the final product.

The Pellet Mill Operator is primarily responsible for operation of the Pellet Mill. The main goal will be to Pellet all feed ordered for both Packing and Bulk Load Out. Regularly maintain/clean the pellet mills and pellet mill support systems; familiarize self with products and their required specifications; and anything else supervisor requires.  

This role is part of our Purina Animal Nutrition business who serves producers and animal owners throughout the United States. We innovate nutritional products and practices that unlock the full potential of every animal for a healthier, more productive life. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complies with all safety processes and insists on safety practices of self and others

  • Shows up on time, completes tasks by deadlines, and adapts to changes quickly

  • Processes work orders by selecting correct products from racks, palletizing them, shrink-wrapping, and staging the product order for delivery

  • Able to multi-task and keep up with warehousing demands in a fast-paced environment

  • Ensures all standard operating procedures are followed

  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area

  • Successful forklift certification required

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • 6+ months of work experience in any industry

  • Basic computer and math skills

  • Able to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions

  • Willingness to learn new skills, problem-solve and troubleshoot

  • Strong collaboration, communication skills, and is always respectful

Preferred Experience:

  • 6 + months of warehousing work experience

  • Forklift experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to frequently lift/carry up to 60 pounds

  • Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements

  • Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment

  • Working in temperature zones that include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include areas where dust and chemicals are present

  • Required to work scheduled shift which may include weekends, some holidays, and periodic overtime

  • The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.

  • Climb work at heights
