Job Summary

The Wealth Planner (Planner) is responsible for delivering financial planning experience to Key Private Bank (KPB) high net worth clients and prospects. The Planner will work closely with KPB Relationship Managers to acquire and deepen relationships by increasing planning engagement with existing clients, and support prospect and Centers of Influence (COI) engagements. The Planner is expected to support Essential Planning opportunities and lead Advanced Planning conversations, including risk management, estate and wealth transfer planning as well as specialty planning (i.e., portfolio management, executive compensation and business succession planning). In addition, the Planner is expected to contribute to internal and client-facing content development, and will partner with Market Leaders, Regional Directors, Fiduciary and Portfolio Strategists as well as collaborate with Central Planning, to prepare, deliver and implement advice.

Essential Functions

  • Actively participate in Core Private Bank prospect, client, and COI meetings as the financial planning expert
  • Lead prospect, client, and COI planning engagements focused on Advanced Planning priorities
  • Collaborate with KPB Relationship Managers to proactively advise clients on age milestones, life events, and children/wealth planning opportunities
  • Partner with Fiduciary, Insurance, and Investment teammates to deliver the Key Planning experience
  • Provide in-market financial planning support and in-person coaching to KPB Relationship Managers to enhance planning acumen
  • Collaborate with Market Leaders and partners to develop Relationship Manager skills focused on Essential Planning priorities
  • Support internal and external planning content development projects
  • Contribute thought leadership on planning to the Key Wealth Institute
  • Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
  • Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key's clients and Key.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in business related field or equivalent work experience (required)

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in financial planning capacity providing financial planning advice to affluent clients (required)
  • Minimum of 3 years providing financial planning advice to high-net-worth clients (preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) (required)

Skills

  • Expertise in goals-based planning process, including discovery, plan development and delivery.
  • Ability to coach advisors on both technical and consultative aspects of the planning process
  • Experience in modeling estate, wealth transfer, multi-generational, and liquidity event scenarios
  • Skilled in financial planning software; MoneyGuide and Wealth Studios preferred
  • Strong team player, responsive partner, and effective collaborator
  • Experience working with CRM tools
  • Knowledge of investment strategies and financial planning for affluent clients
  • Expertise in estate and legacy planning for multi-generational wealth
  • Understanding of asset allocation, investment selection, and portfolio construction
  • Ability to advise on cash flow, liquidity events, and funding strategies
  • Proficiency in designing retirement income strategies and tax-efficient withdrawal plans
  • Ability to align financial planning with long-term client goals and market conditions
  • Experience tailoring financial advice to the unique needs of affluent clients

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $96,000.00 - $181,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
