About the role
  • The Key Account Manager has primary responsibility for an assigned account base and supports business growth in key accounts held by other team members. The individual serves as the leader within the sales team to mentor teammates and demonstrate new approaches. The expectation is to maintain and grow the account base by increasing sales footprints in existing accounts and through new account acquisition.

What you'll do
  • Call on predominantly on-premise key accounts in the Portland metro area
  • Build new business through new account targets
  • Have the pulse of the market, proactively seeking new key account openings across the market
  • Hit target monthly sales and distribution goals while cultivating relationships with new and established clients
  • Showcase strong wine knowledge and the ability to quickly learn Mitchell's portfolio
  • Strategically plan, prepare and execute sales goals on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Bring outstanding service standards to customers and as a role model for teammates
  • Assist with pre-sell execution from start to finish and key item sales forecasting
  • Support team and market with specific wine category sales as needed per account, i.e. Italian, French, Sake, etc.

Qualifications
  • Previous wine wholesale experience, including high touch accounts
  • Proficient in all types of on-premise sales environments (restaurants, hotels, clubs, etc)
  • Organization and ability to delegate tasks as needed and execute plans, highly organized in self-management, scheduling and routing
  • Detail oriented, strong eye for errors and inconsistencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work independently
  • Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and presentation skills and the ability to interact cooperatively and successfully with customers and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently at the direction of the Sales Manager
  • Ability to quickly pivot to sudden, time-sensitive tasks
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree, strongly preferred, or commensurate industry training such as WSET or Court of Masters trainings
  • Valid OLCC Server's Permit

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to drive in adverse weather and environmental conditions, getting in and out of vehicle as required to service accounts
  • Ability to repeatedly move product weighing up to 50 pounds, including lifting, placing, pushing and pulling
  • Repetitive bending, kneeling, occasional climbing and display building is required
  • Reliable transportation to service the sales territory
  • Valid Oregon driver's license, proof of insurance for vehicle required

Work Environment
  • Must reside within an agreed upon Portland Metro location/geography to service customers
  • Local travel up to 75% of the time
