Job description

We donโ€™t build average teams.

And weโ€™re intentional about the people we bring into this firm.

Kelley | Uustal is a high-performance, highly reputable plaintiff-side catastrophic injury law firm based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. With approximately 40 employees (and growing), we are building the infrastructure to support expansion into new states while preserving the culture that defines us: accountability, compassion, and excellence.

We are hiring an execution-focused HR Generalist to work directly with our Chief of Staff.

This is a hands-on role for someone who values structure, clarity, and thoughtful execution. If you are detail-oriented, comfortable navigating sensitive conversations, and motivated to grow within a dynamic professional services environment, we want to hear from you.

The Role

Strengthen and execute HR systems that support our people, protect the firm, and reinforce operational excellence.

You will be expected to bring solutions, not just identify issues.

When matters reach the Chief of Staff, they should be organized, documented, and positioned for thoughtful decision-making.

Initially, this role is execution-heavy. Over time, there is opportunity to expand into broader HR operations and talent development initiatives based on performance and trust.

What Youโ€™ll Own:

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Coordinate payroll audits and PTO reconciliation
  • Administer benefits enrollment and changes
  • Liaise with our benefits broker and 401(k) provider
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain employee files and disciplinary documentation
  • Draft written warnings and corrective actions
  • Support internal investigations
  • Assist with annual employee handbook updates

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Post roles and screen candidates
  • Conduct first-round interviews
  • Coordinate interview scheduling
  • Own onboarding logistics and first-week orientation

Employee Relations

  • Support performance review processes
  • Provide compliance guidance to managers
  • Assist with conflict resolution and employment changes

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • 3โ€“6 years of HR experience (more senior candidates considered)
  • Experience coordinating payroll and benefits
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Comfort handling sensitive and high-stakes conversations
  • Professional, composed, and solutions-oriented mindset
  • Interest in growing within a structured, high-accountability environment

Strongly Preferred

  • Professional services or law firm experience
  • Florida employment law familiarity
  • SHRM-CP certification
  • HRIS experience (BambooHR a plus)

Who You Are

  • Calm under pressure
  • Direct, fair, and thoughtful
  • Structured in your approach to documentation and follow-through
  • Comfortable having accountability conversations when necessary
  • Able to balance empathy with standards
  • Motivated to contribute to a culture built on clarity and performance
  • You understand that strong HR supports both people and results, and that consistency builds trust

Why This Role Matters

You will work closely with leadership and help strengthen systems. You will play a meaningful role in shaping how our firm grows and scales. This is a high-visibility role inside a firm that holds itself to a high standard.

Our Standard

At our firm, everything comes back to one core truth: WE WIN FOR OUR CLIENTS.

That requires exceptional people and aligned systems behind the scenes.

If you are smart, humble, structured, and motivated to contribute to something meaningful within a growing firm, we encourage you to apply.
