Job description

Position Summary: 

As Dishwasher at Keeneland Hospitality, you are a vital support role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in one of the most prestigious food and beverage operations in horse racing. You’ll ensure that kitchen tools, dishes, and workspaces are clean, organized, and ready for use during high-volume events such as race meets, corporate events, and elevated dining experiences. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using commercial dishwashing machines or by hand. 
  • Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen and dishwashing areas, including floors, sinks, and storage racks. 
  • Sort and organize clean dishes and equipment for kitchen and service staff access. 
  • Monitor and refill dishwashing supplies such as detergent, sanitizer, and drying agents. 
  • Remove trash, recyclables, and food waste regularly and safely. 
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards as outlined by Keeneland and health regulations. 
  • Assist with basic prep tasks or kitchen cleaning when dish load is low (as directed). 
  • Work quickly and efficiently to support chefs and service team during peak times. 
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the kitchen supervisor immediately. 
  • Performs job duties as assigned by kitchen supervisor. 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Prior kitchen or dishwashing experience in medium to large restaurants preferred. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. 
  • Able to stand, bend, and lift and stack pots and pans for extended periods (lift up to 40 lbs). 
  • Willingness to follow instructions and safety protocols precisely. 
  • Team-oriented attitude and strong work ethic. 
  • Subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise. 
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, events and extended race days. 

Licensing Requirements: 

  • A valid Fayette County Food Handler’s License is required for all food and beverage staff. Must be obtained prior to the first scheduled shift. ServSafe certification also accepted. 
  • A Kentucky Horse Racing Commission license is required for all track workers. This license will be provided to you on behalf of Keeneland upon hire.
