Job description

Job Summary: The Security Coordinator is responsible for overseeing physical security operations across all Karmanos Cancer Center locations, including access control systems, CCTV/camera networks and intrusion alarm systems. This role serves as the organization's Workplace Violence Prevention Officer, responsible for maintaining the Workplace Violence Prevention Program and protocols to prevent, detect and respond to workplace violence incidents. The Security Coordinator also acts as the primary liaison with on-site contracted security personnel, the valet parking vendor and employee parking service ensuring consistent service standards, compliance, and safety across all sites.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates access control for all Karmanos locations through various vendors. This includes adding access for employees and contractors as well as disabling badges when appropriate.
  2. Ensures all cameras and recorders are properly functioning at 5 Karmanos locations via three platforms.
  3. Works with various alarm companies for 5 locations, ensuring contacts lists are reviewed regularly.
  4. Serves as the liaison between Karmanos and the Detroit Medical Center Private Security Police, addressing safety concerns, staffing and incident prevention.
  5. Appointed as the workplace violence prevention officer for Karmanos which includes monitoring and investigating Safety First incidents of workplace violence at Karmanos locations and chairing bi-monthly multi-disciplinary meetings.

Qualifications:
Required:

       High School Diploma or GED

       Three years security experience in a healthcare facility

 Preferred:

       Associate degree in criminal justice, business, or related field.

       5 years of experience in security in a healthcare setting
