Job description

Job Details:

Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak the same language by converting one spoken language to another. Interpreting services include but are not limited to Employment, Training & Orientation, Meetings, Human Resources, Health Services and other operational activities as assigned. This position is held to a strict code of confidentiality. The interpreter must be willing to work in all environments of the facility.

SHIFT

Monday - Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Possible Saturdays (but rare)

  • Will be required to cover absenteeism
  • Hours may fluctuate depending on business needs
REQUIREMENTSEducation
  • High school degree or equivalent is preferred but not required
Experience
  • Must be able to pass the Interpreter Assessment with an average total score of 90% or higher
  • One year of interpreter experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Current Team Members already certified under Tyson interpreter program or other language certification acquired through an academic organization will be preferred
Communication Skills
  • Must have strong verbal communication skills in their dominant language and the English language
  • Must agree to sign a confidentiality agreement
Special Skills
  • Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision, while at the same time be a member of team to coordinate and provide support as needed
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong organizational, decision making, and follow-up skills
Computer Skills
  • Basic computer and typing skills preferred
  • The Interpreter is expected to use dictionaries and glossaries for reference in order to communicate a clear and concise message

Travel:

  • Must have a valid driver's license to attend outside medical appointments.
