Senior Staff Analyst -Personal Property Tax

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Personal Property Tax Analyst, you will maintain existing client relationships and focus on business personal property tax and incentive planning opportunities. This includes enforcing policies, standards and guidelines, researching issues, reviewing business personal and assessable property taxes and filings, maintaining company workpaper databases, segregating and auditing fixed assets, and the preparation of renditions and complex returns. Preparing for appeals and supporting documentation as necessary. You will also research available incentives, present and negotiate incentive requests, and document secured benefits and findings to help our clients receive and save money.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Compliance with Firm policies and practice guidelines to ensure they are meeting set company standards.

  • Manage and monitor all aspects of the annual business personal property tax cycle for assigned personal property portfolios ensuring they are accurate and meeting deadlines.

  • Develop client workplans and schedules for associated project deliverables to ensure work is completed prior to deadlines.

  • May inspect properties, where required, to gather additional information and ensure we are getting accurate asset valuations.

  • Assist with managing client communication, prepares and assist with conducting client presentations, and respond in a timely manner to ensure we are exceeding the clients' expectations.

  • Review and reconcile client data and identify tax issues to research in an effort to save money for clients.

  • Manage own assignments, while fostering a team environment that demonstrates support of firm management and decisions while building a positive culture of collaboration.

  • Ability to review the work of peers and offer constructive feedback.

  • Manage all aspects of the appeal process (informal, formal, and litigation) and report status and results to firm management.

  • May participate in business development and recruiting activities.

Requirements:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Will consider degrees in Business Administration or Mathematics with related business personal property tax experience and experience in fixed asset audit and consulting or experience in SALT with extensive experience reviewing fixed asset listings.

  • Experience: a minimum of 5 years in business personal property tax or SALT with at least 2 years at the Senior Analyst level.

  • Functional Skills: Excellent planning, organization, and executing skills; strong analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking; direct experience in moving from project to project, priority to priority on a daily basis; excellent thoroughness, attention to detail, with the ability to work well within tight due dates and meet deadlines.

  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Advanced MicroSoft Office Skillset in Excel (V-lookup and pivot tables) Word, Adobe, Outlook, Strong background with property tax systems preferred (i.e. Karbon, PTMS, Appeal Track, etc.)

  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; will interact with key customers, leaders, team members, and the community on a regular basis.

  • Leadership/Behaviors: Must be forward-thinking, customer-focused, process/project driven. Requires strong relationship-building and collaboration, a team player and approachable. Also requires someone who is life-long learner, compliance-oriented and self-directed. Flexibility and adaptability are also important to meet the needs of the clients.
