Job Title: Phlebotomist IIJob DescriptionThe main function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
- Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously, demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Understand and execute all physician orders accurately.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure correct labeling and packaging for transport.
- Store specimen samples at required temperatures and place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone inquiries, providing laboratory results as needed.
Essential Skills- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in pediatrics and venipuncture.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment includes a fast-paced lab or hospital setting where compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations is critical. The role requires the handling of specimens, operating centrifuge equipment, and maintaining a professional demeanor with patients and colleagues. Dress code and safety protocols must be followed at all times.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Santa Monica, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.16 - $25.16/hr.
