Job description

Description
The Department of Finance in Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant Professor of Finance beginning August 16, 2027.
The position carries a 3/3 teaching load, together with formal scholarly research and service responsibilities.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate Finance courses, including upper-level and advanced courses consistent with departmental needs
• Developing and sustaining an active and ongoing scholarly portfolio appropriate to a Clinical Assistant Professor appointment, with a portion of the work resulting in publications in peer-reviewed journals, consistent with departmental, school, and accreditation expectations
• Mentoring students and supporting their academic and professional development
• Contributing to curriculum and program development
• Participating collegially in the service activities of the Department, Hankamer School of Business, and University
The Department of Finance, Hankamer School of Business, and Baylor University provide strong support for effective teaching, scholarly development, and student engagement.

Qualifications
• A doctorate in Finance or a closely related field, completed or expected to be completed by August 2027
• A record of, or strong potential for, effective teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate Finance courses, including upper-level or advanced courses
• A record of, or strong potential for, maintaining an active and ongoing scholarly portfolio, with a portion resulting in publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Ability and willingness to mentor students and contribute to department, school, and university service
• Ability to support and contribute to Baylor University's Christian mission

• A one- to two-page cover letter describing the candidate's interest in the position, teaching and scholarly qualifications, fit with the Department of Finance, and interest in supporting Baylor University's Christian mission

• A one- to two-page teaching statement describing the candidate's teaching philosophy, experience, effectiveness, ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate Finance courses, and commitment to student mentoring
• A one- to two-page research statement describing completed and current scholarship and the candidate's planned scholarly agenda
• One representative scholarly writing sample, such as a working paper or published article
• An official or unofficial transcript for the highest degree earned or currently in progress
• One document containing the names and contact information of three professional references
Applicants may submit additional materials demonstrating teaching or scholarly effectiveness, including teaching evaluations, sample syllabi, additional publications, or evidence of relevant professional experience.
