New graduate nurses are strongly encouraged to apply. This residency is designed for nurses beginning their careers in acute care for consideration on Cardiac, Observation, Oncology, Orthopedics, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and Neurology units. Please note that this posting does not include specialty areas such as ICU, Emergency Department, NICU, Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, or Surgical Services.

AVAILABLE UNITS
New graduate residents can apply for placement in the following specialties:
  • Cardiac
  • Observation
  • Oncology
  • Orthopedics
  • Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg)
  • Telemetry
  • Neurology

Please Note: This residency opportunity is currently available only in the patient care areas listed above. While new graduate nurses are encouraged to apply, this posting is not for specialty units such as Intensive Care (ICU), Emergency Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, or Surgical Services. Opportunities in those specialty areas are posted separately as available.
SCHEDULE & SHIFTS

  • Day Shift or Night Shift options available

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing (RN) program (ADN or BSN)
  • RN license (or eligible to obtain prior to start date)
  • BLS certification (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
  • Passion for delivering high-quality patient care

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The New Graduate Registered Nurse is a licensed nurse with less than one year of acute care experience. Upon hire, the New Graduate Registered Nurse is referred to as a Nurse Resident and is automatically enrolled into the Nurse Residency Program.
The Nurse Residency Program is a year long program that consists of in-person classes called seminars. The seminars are held once a month for four hours and Nurse Residents are required to attend each seminar and attend make-up seminars if one is missed. Seminars are led by Master's prepared Nurse Educators and various subject matter experts from different disciplines within the healthcare system. Content is delivered via lecture, simulation, hands-on skills, role play, gamification and immersion room experiences. Each seminar consists of a different topic(s), including, but not limited to the following:
  • Time Management/Delegation/Prioritization
  • Management of the Changing Patient
  • Professional Communication
  • End of Life and Palliative Care
  • Workplace Safety Series
  • Medication Safety
  • Conflict Management
  • Health Equity
  • Nursing Ethics and Advocacy
  • Professional Development
  • Nursing Professional Role

Additionally, Nurse Residents will be required to research a healthcare related topic, and present an Evidence Based Practice project at the twelfth and final month of the program.
Nurse Residents hired onto a medical/surgical, cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, oncologic, or observation unit will attend three days of nursing skills at the beginning of their onboarding process, which runs concurrently with the Nurse Residency Program and clinical time with a preceptor on a unit.
