Job description

JVC is a part of the Peterson Farms family of companies located out of Byron Center, MI. https://jvcenterprisesinc.com/

JVC/Peterson Farms Inc. is looking for drivers who want to maximize their DOT allotted hours of service. The qualified driver (with Class A CDL license and updated medical certificate) will be required to transport PFI produced freight throughout the United States while staying compliant with DOT regulations. Drivers considered for employment need to have experience with, or at least be open to operating an electronic logging device.

Responsibilities:
โ€ขRepresent PFI/JVC in a way that is courteous and professional at all times
โ€ขCommunicate with JVC dispatch regularly
โ€ขPerform Daily Vehicle Inspection, on tractor and trailer, to determine safe operating condition prior to departure
โ€ขTrailer pre-load; Pre-cool trailer to proper temperature, confirm product count, properly secure product in trailer, verify paperwork is correct before signing
โ€ขOperate vehicle in compliance with company rules and all applicable state and federal regulations in accordance with accepted principles of safe driving
โ€ขDeliver freight to consignees as required
โ€ขWait patiently for backhaul information/instructions
โ€ขPick up freight as required
โ€ขLoad and unload freight as required (we compensate drivers for lumping)
โ€ขPerform other related work as required
โ€ขReport to Transportation Manager and/or Dispatch all moving violations, roadside inspections, and accidents including equipment damage and/or property damage, involving the driver or company equipment
โ€ขProperly complete and turn in paperwork in compliance with state and federal regulations for each trip including: (DVIR, logs, signed BOLโ€™s, PFTI trip sheet, receipts)
โ€ขProper use and care of all equipment assigned to him/her for the performance of his/her duties.
โ€ขReports promptly any delays that will affect pick up or delivery appointments.

Education:
โ€ขHigh school graduate or equivalent preferred

Work Experience:
โ€ข1-year continuous current driving record
โ€ขVerifiable Previous 3-years Driving Employment History

Skills and Knowledge:
โ€ขAbility to read, interpret and follow written job instructions
โ€ขAbility to operate electronic logging device, or ability to learn
โ€ขAbility to sit for extended periods of time in a truck tractor
โ€ขAbility to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, and climb, as necessary, to perform vehicle inspections
โ€ขClass A CDL, (Good) Driving Record
