Junior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Engineer to support upcoming and anticipated defense programs. In this role, you will assist in the design, development, testing, and improvement of mechanical systems and components. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers and contribute to various phases of project development. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience and grow within a collaborative and innovative environment. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Duties Include:

  • Support mechanical design and drafting using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Assist in prototype development, assembly, and testing
  • Functional knowledge of manufacturing processes and their applicability (i.e. machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, welding, etc.)
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and analysis to include design level structural and thermal FEA
  • Perform analyses and generate presentations and reports for results
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing and quality assurance
  • Prepare technical documentation: drawings, plans, procedures and reports
  • Support configuration management process: prepare Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), manage information in Configuration Management (CM) system
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas for design improvements
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving engineering issues during prototyping, development and production.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required, and successful completion of a background check is mandatory.
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to get one.
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 05 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and materials.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Direct experience with manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing)
  • Exposure to GD&T and technical drawing standards.
  • Working knowledge of (experience with) PDM systems or engineering change control (e.g. Arena, Windchill).

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time at desk, in telecoms/meetings with peers, management
