Job description

Civil 3D Designer (Career CAD Professional)

Build Complex Site Projects. Own the Design. Grow as a Civil 3D Power User.

We’re looking for a high-level Civil 3D Designer who wants to build a long-term career doing what they do best—complex, hands-on design work. This is not a stepping-stone role—it’s an opportunity to become a go-to technical expert working on large-scale, high-impact civil and environmental projects from concept through construction. If you enjoy tackling challenging grading, landfill, remediation, and industrial projects—and want to be part of a team that truly values technical expertise—this is the role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Take ownership of Civil 3D production on large, complex site development and environmental projects
  • Design grading plans, site layouts, and earthwork models for landfills, remediation sites, ash ponds, utilities, and industrial facilities
  • Build and manage surfaces, grading models, and cut/fill analyses for large-acreage sites
  • Develop alignments, profiles, and site access layouts for civil infrastructure
  • Create and maintain stormwater pipe networks and utility systems
  • Leverage advanced Civil 3D tools including feature lines, corridors, grading groups, data shortcuts, and sheet sets
  • Work closely with engineers to bring designs to life with accurate, construction-ready drawings
  • Support stormwater design and multidisciplinary project coordination
  • Mentor junior designers and help elevate overall CAD standards and workflows

What Makes You a Strong Fit
  • 5+ years of Civil 3D experience working on real-world civil design projects (not just basic drafting)
  • Deep experience with grading design, surfaces, and earthwork calculations
  • Proven ability to work on large-scale, complex sites (100+ acres)
  • Strong understanding of pipe networks, alignments, profiles, and stormwater systems
  • Comfortable serving as a Civil 3D power user supporting engineering teams
  • High attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy
  • Clear interest in building a long-term career as a designer (not transitioning to engineering management)

Bonus Experience (Nice to Have)
  • Landfills, remediation, or heavy earthwork projects
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, MicroStation, Map 3D, or Subassembly Composer
  • Experience with survey data, datums, and geospatial workflows
  • Exposure to stormwater management and drainage design
  • Experience mentoring or reviewing work of junior designers

Why This Role Stands Out
  • Work on large, technically challenging projects you won’t find in typical site design roles
  • Be part of a strong Civil 3D-focused culture that values technical expertise
  • Join a team with long tenure and real stability—people stay and grow here
  • Opportunity to become a true subject matter expert and leader within design
  • Collaborative environment where knowledge sharing is encouraged, not siloed

Work Environment & Flexibility
  • Hybrid schedule: typically 2–3 days in-office
  • Flexible hours with core collaboration time from 10 AM – 3 PM
  • Locations include:
    • Kennesaw & Midtown Atlanta, GA (preferred)
    • Birmingham, AL | Austin, TX | Tampa, FL | Raleigh & Charlotte, NC | Knoxville, TN | Boca Raton & Pensacola, FL
  • Work alongside a highly collaborative, technically strong team focused on delivering high-quality design

Long-Term Opportunity

This is a role built for career Civil 3D professionals who want to grow in their craft, not step away from it. You’ll gain exposure to complex, high-impact projects, expand your technical skill set, and be supported by leadership that invests in your long-term development.
