Mechanical Designer – Piping SR Level 1, 2 & 3Location- Wilsonville, ALContract- 4 MonthsExperience & Education Requirements10+ years of experience in mechanical piping designAssociate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in mechanical design/draftingProficiency in Plant 3D is requiredPosition SummaryThe Mechanical Designer – Piping SR I plays a key role in developing advanced 3D piping and equipment designs for retrofit and new construction projects in power generation or similar heavy industrial environments. The position requires strong technical expertise in layout, modeling, and documentation, as well as the ability to mentor junior designers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant designs.

Key ResponsibilitiesProvide detailed 3D piping and equipment layouts for retrofit and other industrial projectsGenerate 2D orthographic drawings, isometric drawings, P&IDs, and pipe support designsDevelop and review general arrangements (GAs) and design documentationPerform sizing and selection of piping components in accordance with project requirementsGather and verify field data to support accurate and comprehensive design deliverablesPrepare material take-offs and assist with construction planning documentationCollaborate with engineers and other designers to ensure design integration and functionalityInterpret and apply industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API)Ensure accuracy, safety, and constructability of all mechanical piping designsSkills & Expertise RequiredIntermediate to advanced-level experience in mechanical piping system design for power generation or heavy industrial facilitiesProficient in 3D modeling tools for piping system layout and design – Plant 3D experience is requiredStrong understanding of piping specifications, components, codes, and standardsAbility to conduct site visits and gather field measurementsSkilled in producing comprehensive design documentation, including drawings and take-offsExcellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and multi-disciplinary coordination skillsCapable of working independently or in a lead designer capacity on complex projects
