Job description

Position Type: Part Time, Exempt (Up to 28 hours per week with some weekends required)

Direct Supervisor: Communications Director

Position Summary: The Content Creator will support the Communications Team by creating engaging, compelling digital content that helps people connect with the life and mission of the church. This part-time role will focus on social media strategy and content creation, while collaborating with the team on writing, photography, video, and other digital storytelling projects. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and creative thinker able to translate the church’s vision and ministry into content that captures attention, builds connection, and encourages meaningful engagement.

Position Profile:

  • Committed and growing follower of Jesus Christ with a passion for using creativity to further the gospel
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in creative communication
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other industry-standard design tools
  • Knowledge of major social media platforms, current content and design trends, and branding principles
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to create engaging content for a variety of audiences and platforms
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-motivated, creative, and able to take initiative and ownership of projects
  • Willingness to receive feedback, collaborate with others, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Additional skills in video production, photography, graphic design, or other creative disciplines preferred
  • A member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church or willing and able to become a member

Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation
    • Create compelling written and digital content for social media, websites, email, print, and other communication channels
    • Develop and execute timely and engaging social media content that communicates the mission and ministries of the church
    • Contribute to storytelling efforts that highlight what God is doing through the church and its people
    • Contribute to communication projects across digital, print, video, photography, design, and other creative platforms based on strengths and skillset
  • Team Collaboration
    • Work alongside the Communications Team and ministry leaders to develop and execute effective communication strategies
    • Contribute wherever needed to help the team accomplish its goals and serve the church effectively
    • Take ownership of assigned projects and manage timelines through completion
  • Perform other related duties that may benefit the Communications Team or the church as directed by the Communications Director or Executive leadership.
