Job description

Overview
VTG is seeking a Junior Systems Administrator to join our team in support of a mission-focused customer responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining Radio Frequency (RF) processing systems.
The Level 1 Systems Administrator will provide day-to-day administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support for Linux-based IT environments. This position will support servers, workstations, laptops, storage, network devices, and other IT systems while assisting users and resolving Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical issues.
What will you do?
  • Provide implementation, troubleshooting, administration, and maintenance support for IT systems.
  • Perform daily configuration, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support, including problem identification, diagnosis, troubleshooting, escalation, and resolution.
  • Support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of client, server, storage, and network environments.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Linux servers, workstations, and laptops.
  • Provide technical support for mobile devices and other IT equipment as required.
  • Install and configure server and workstation hardware.
  • Assist users with accessing, navigating, and effectively using IT systems.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues.
  • Escalate complex technical issues and communicate system status to customer management and internal stakeholders.
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization.
  • Perform system capacity analysis and support capacity planning activities.
  • Support Customer Secure the Enterprise (STE) tasks and related security requirements.
  • Support customer data transfer processes and procedures.
  • Maintain system documentation and support configuration management activities.

  • TS/SCI with Poly required
  • Hands-on experience administering Linux operating systems.
  • System administration experience with:
    • CentOS 7
    • Rocky Linux 9
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9
  • Experience upgrading and maintaining servers, workstations, and laptops.
  • Experience supporting Customer Secure the Enterprise (STE) tasks.
  • Experience with customer data transfer processes and procedures.
  • Experience installing and configuring hardware, including servers and workstations.
  • Experience providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support.
  • Ability to identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and operating system issues.
  • Ability to support day-to-day IT operations in a mission-focused technical environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

VTG's estimated starting pay range is $84K-$94K annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
