Lead Software Engineer, Phantom Works

Company:

The Boeing Company is seeking Lead Software Engineer with an Active Top Secret Security Clearance to support our Phantom Works Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) Solutions team in Berkeley, MO This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

Phantom Works is an advanced research and development organization responsible for engaging customers through cutting-edge visual modeling and simulation; innovating cross-cutting concepts and technologies; prototyping solutions to extend current products and win new programs; and developing new businesses and entering new markets. The organization is seeking software engineers to perform software design and development for Space-based effects in support of air domain missions.

The selected team member enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement, and is successful working in a multi-contract/multi-program environment. He/she will support the development of solutions to a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. He/she should be adaptable to new development environments and eager to work with and learn new technologies

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning of software development tasks including detailed software design, coding, and unit/integration/functional/system testing of customer desired features/user stories, ensuring successful achievement of acceptance criteria.

  • Partners with appropriate stakeholders to inform system definition and reviews translation of system-level requirements into software requirements and models that meet customer, operational and performance requirements and have clear traceability to design, code and test artifacts.

  • Reviews completion of software system-level analyses to identify risk, issues and opportunities; leads integration and deployment of mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle.

  • Leads code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standard.

  • Leads monitoring and reviewing test completion, verification processes and issue resolution for software systems.

  • Leads review of product and process for alignment with project plans and industry standards by tracking and evaluation of internal team and supplier performance.

  • Mentor and coach junior engineers in software development

  • Interface with various software programming languages

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Active Top Secret U.S. Security clearance

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience

  • 5+ years of experience with Java and/or C++ object-oriented programming

  • 3+ years of experience leading software development projects

  • 1+ years of MATLAB

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Active TS/SCI

  • Familiarity with Physics-Based Modeling software packages.

  • Physics knowledge in one or more of the following: flight dynamics, sensors, electromagnetics, weapon models, terrain models, or flight control; but not required.

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps: version control, continuous integration, containers, code analysis tools (Git, GitLab, or CMake)

  • Candidate should have strong computing skills, excellent communication skills, be customer-oriented, positive, flexible, and a strong team player.

  • Experience with Agile software development process, including daily standup, User Stories, Sprints, and/or Planning

  • Exposure to Linux and Windows

  • Exposure to MATLAB Coder, but not required
