Job description

Description

You must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future. We will not sponsor employment visas. Candidates who will require future sponsorship, including candidates on CPT/OPT/STEMOPT who will require future sponsorship, are not eligible to apply.

At Liberty, you'll thrive in a hybrid setting that fosters in-person collaboration, innovation and growth. This approach optimizes both remote and in-person interactions, enabling you to connect and ideate with your team and deepen valuable relationships across the company, while still enjoying the flexibility of remote work for focused tasks and projects. This position follows a hybrid work model (2 days onsite) and is open to candidates located in Portsmouth, NH; Boston, MA; Plano, TX; Indianapolis, IN; and Columbus, OH.

Do you have the skills and drive to join a tech team that's working to digitally transform a trillion-dollar industry? From test-driving the latest technologies to creating intuitive consumer apps, Liberty Mutual is constantly innovating and creating industry-leading solutions that provide peace of mind for our customers worldwide.

Working on the Third-Party Integrations team within USRM Distribution Technology, you'll provide technical leadership for engineering teams building the capabilities that enable the sale and service of our insurance products on external storefronts. This role sits at the center of our transition to agentic delivery: you'll help build the internal infrastructure - AI-ready documentation, an internal MCP catalogue, multi-agent delivery patterns - that lets our engineers move from implementer to orchestrator, and you'll help design the external MCP interface that lets partner agents discover and consume our capabilities directly. It's a rare opportunity to shape both sides of the same transformation on a mission-critical platform that powers insurance sales across all distribution channels.

We encourage you to apply and bring your expertise if you're a:

  • Strategic partner: You take the big picture view, whether you're defining architecture roadmaps for agentic delivery or maintaining critical relationships with vendors and business partners.
  • Motivated mentor: Exercise your technical chops while coaching junior software engineers through the shift from writing code to orchestrating the agents that write it.
  • Systems-level engineer: Working hand-in-hand with your business partners, you'll develop technical requirements and design multi-agent architectures and agent-readable API surfaces that are robust and flexible.
  • Forward thinker: Leading by example, you'll promote a culture of experimentation - finding ways to responsibly accelerate the adoption of agentic tooling and translate it into measurable delivery and partner-distribution gains.
Qualifications
  • Ten years of related software engineering experience
  • A comprehensive understanding of agile environments
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary frameworks and emerging technologies, including hands-on exposure to agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot agents)
  • A history of practicing DevOps and SecOps
  • A strong background in business operations and strategies, including knowledge of global business and technology trends

Skills

  • Solid negotiation, facilitation, consensus building and influencing capabilities
  • Ability to identify patterns and problems across teams and deliver effective solutions
  • Openness and adaptability to respond to fast-moving circumstances
  • A design thinking and test-driven development mindset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an aptitude for working in teams
  • High Proficiency with cloud-based providers and containerized solutions (AWS, Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes)
  • High level proficiency in creating applications with a high degree of observability (DataDog, Open Telemetry)
  • Proficiency with event-based architectures and integration with API first microservices
  • Familiarity with agentic architecture patterns (MCP, orchestrator/sub-agent design, multi-agent coordination) or strong motivation to build this fluency quickly
  • Ability to write and structure technical documentation for machine reasoning, not just human readers
  • Working knowledge of cyber security concerns, from access control and authentication to secured SDLC processes
  • Familiarity with the ACORD data structures and experience modeling insurance transactions following ACORD conventions is preferred

Education

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience
