About the Role:
RunBuggy is looking for a Junior Security Analyst to join our security team. You'll get hands-on experience in security operations by owning the front line of our ticket queue - triaging, investigating, and resolving low-severity security tickets while learning from experienced analysts.
This is a part-time internship based in Tempe, AZ, with a hybrid schedule once the intern is trained. Please do not apply if you are not a student located within a commutable distance of Tempe, AZ.
Requirements
What You Will Be Doing:
  • Triage and resolve Tier 1 security tickets: phishing reports, false-positive alerts, access requests, and routine vulnerability findings.
  • Investigate low-severity alerts using our security tooling and document findings clearly.
  • Escalate tickets that exceed defined severity thresholds to senior analysts with complete context.
  • Maintain and improve runbooks and triage documentation as you learn.
  • Assist employees with routine security questions and requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Team by Way of Skills and Experience:
  • Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in cybersecurity, computer science, IT, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of security fundamentals (common attack types, networking basics, authentication).
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Curiosity and willingness to ask questions before acting.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with a SIEM or ticketing system (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow).

Preference will be given to applicants who submit a cover letter explaining how their background fits the internship requirements.
