Job description

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Responsible for performing a full range of credit functions for existing and prospective borrowers, both businesses and individuals that are in line with the policies and procedures set forth for the Commercial Lending and Commercial Credit departments. Primary function: to objectively evaluate the credit risk on more complex commercial loan requests and provide recommendations in a succinct written format for use in the commercial loan approval and review process. Additionally, the Senior Credit Analyst plays a key role in mentoring junior team members and enhancing the overall credit process.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct thorough and timely analysis of financial information for complex loan requests, loan modifications, renewals, and periodic reviews.
  • Review new requests and perform annual reviews for cash management limits for ACH, RDC and Wires.
  • Perform annual reviews on critical vendors.
  • Maintain and monitor the overall credit quality of the commercial loan portfolio and ensure the accuracy of each loan’s risk rating on a periodic basis.
  • Order and/or review various reports for accuracy, completeness and potential risks such as appraisals and environmental reports.
  • Support other credit risk management activities within the department and other areas of the Bank and assist with internal/external audits or regulatory compliance matters.
  • Adhere to guidelines and prepare/maintain various reports as outlined in the Commercial Credit Procedures.
  • Review and recommend updates to the commercial lending and/or credit policies & procedures and assist in their implementation.
  • Mentor and act as a resource in the development of junior team members.
  • Assist Sr. Credit Manager with special projects, process improvements and overseeing credit department.
  • Establish and maintain professional, respectful and effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Perform additional related duties as required or directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience), preferably in business, finance, or accounting, or minimum of 5 years of banking/financial service experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer use.
  • Strong quantitative/analytical and research skills requiring minimal guidance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Works well in a collaborative team environment, and independently.
  • Self-driven, highly accountable, and shows initiative.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing tasks and deadlines.
