Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Senior Commercial Litigation Associate or Counsel to join a growing and sophisticated commercial litigation practice in Wilmington. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced litigator looking to take on a leadership role in complex business disputes while working closely with clients and attorneys on high-profile Delaware litigation matters.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of commercial litigation experience, including substantial experience litigating matters before the Delaware Court of Chancery.

Responsibilities
  • Handle complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Develop and execute litigation strategy in sophisticated business disputes
  • Conduct legal research and draft dispositive motions, briefs, memoranda, and other substantive filings
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Manage discovery, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
  • Work directly with clients on case strategy, risk assessment, and dispute resolution
  • Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with litigation teams across offices
  • Represent clients in proceedings before the Delaware Court of Chancery and other litigation forums
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of commercial litigation experience
  • Significant experience practicing before the Delaware Court of Chancery
  • Superior legal research, writing, and motion drafting abilities
  • Experience taking and defending depositions
  • Trial and/or substantial trial preparation experience
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and client management skills
  • Ability to independently manage sophisticated litigation matters
  • Active Delaware Bar admission required
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary range: $240,000 – $260,000
  • 4x4 Hybrid Model (in-office Wednesdays plus four additional in-office days per month)
