Job Summary:
Thorndale Partners is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer specializing in PHP, Python, and React to join their team. This role focuses on the modernization of a successful SaaS platform for supply chain and logistics compliance, involving architecture evolution and migration of legacy systems. The engineer will lead initiatives, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor junior developers while utilizing modern development tools.
Responsibilities:
• Leads the architectural evolution and modernization of existing SaaS platform and legacy web applications.
• Develops, tests, and implements scalable backend solutions utilizing PHP and Python.
• Builds and optimizes modern, responsive front-end user interfaces using React.
• Manages infrastructure deployment and containerization utilizing AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Integrates robust CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous, high-quality application delivery.
• Actively utilizes cutting-edge AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate engineering velocity.
• Collaborates with product stakeholders to understand the 'why' behind features and translates them into technical solutions.
• Mentors junior developers and actively contributes to a high-performing, low-bureaucracy engineering culture.
• Enforces good development practices, modern clean code standards, and secure architecture principles.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent professional engineering experience
• 5+ years of software development experience building scalable SaaS or web applications
• Strong professional proficiency with backend engineering in both PHP and Python
• Solid production experience building modern web interfaces with React
• Hands-on experience working with AWS cloud environments and containerization (Docker or Kubernetes)
• Proven experience establishing or managing modern CI/CD automation pipelines
• Track record of executing platform modernization, architectural updates, or legacy migrations
• Direct experience or high comfort level leveraging modern AI coding assistants to maximize output
• Ability to bring product-minded thinking to development, prioritizing the business and user impact of code
• Must reside in or near Ohio to remain anchored to the Strongsville headquarters
