Peraton is seeking aJunior Software Developerto support a customer in Colorado Springs, CO, supporting theSpace Weather Analysis Forecasting Service (SWAFS) GovCloudsolution. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career developer to contribute to a mission-critical government program in a collaborative Agile environment.

What you'll do:

• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle: definition, design, implementation, unit testing, and code deployment
• Write and maintain application code primarily inJava; exposure to JavaScript, Python, C#, or C++ is a plus
• Develop and execute unit tests to ensure quality of releasable software
• Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality
• Contribute to the SaFE/Agile backlog under the guidance of senior developers and the assigned SCRUM Master
• Collaborate with developers, testers, platform engineers, and software architects to produce and maintain code
• Support REST data/service integrations feeding into SaaS applications
• Assist in documenting processes, code, and technical decisions clearly and concisely
• Participate in usability reviews and contribute to improvements in software design
• Follow established design guidelines, best practices, and coding standards

• Associate's degree and 2+ years of relevant software development experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; OR 4+ years of relevant software development experience in lieu of a degree.
• This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance
• Working knowledgeofJava(primary language)
• Familiarity withSpringBootor similar frameworks
• Basic familiarity withDockerand CI/CD concepts
• Basic knowledge ofAWSdevelopment environment
• Experience with or exposure toAgile/Scrumdevelopment process
• Basic knowledge ofGitand version control workflows

• Strong communication skills; able to work effectively in a team environment
• Flexible, able to meet deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities

• PriorSpace Weathercoding experience or academic coursework
• Familiarity withApache Camel
• Exposure toGitLabCI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with C, C#, C++, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or CSS
• Self-starter; able to work collaboratively or with minimum direction
• Basic knowledge ofAWS/C2S Cloudenvironments
• Investigative/root-cause analysis skills for code issues

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
