Responsibilities

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Availability Analytics and Automation (AAA) teams, working on innovative SRE, automation, and AI/ML solutions.

The SRE team helps product teams strengthen application reliability and resiliency through capabilities such as Neighborhood Watch and Resiliency Assessments. The team leverages AWS and ROSA technologies, along with MCP servers and Agentic AI, to build and enhance these solutions.

The AAA team develops GenAI-powered tools that help investigate and troubleshoot production outages and generate ESS summaries, using GenAI Gateway and AIDE APIs to interact with LLMs.

In this role, you will collaborate with Lead Software Engineers and Staff Engineers to design and develop solutions for Service Level Objectives (SLOs), observability dashboards, AI-powered tools and agentic workflows, and automated recovery capabilities. 


Qualifications
  • Develops, tests, debugs, documents, maintains, supports applications/components and primarily completes assignments with guidance and direction.
  • Develops an understanding in programming and is actively developing in a core programming language (e.g. Go, Java, JavaScript, Python, etc.).
  • Develops an understanding with State Farm compute environments, including but not limited to AWS, ROSA, CaaS, etc.
  • Develops an understanding with State Farm security, standards and governance.
  • Handles and resolves basic application and environment problems and issues.
  • Develop an understanding of the State Farm organizational structure.
  • Develops understanding of Agile techniques, activities and DevOps methods.
  • Develops fundamental understanding of insurance and financial services operations and Experience with AWS, ROSA desired, but not required.
  • Demonstrates strong consulting and problem-solving skills.
  • Drives initiatives with a strong focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
  • Champions the use of Generative AI (e.g., Co-Pilot) in daily development workflows (coding, documentation, testing, and ideation).

  • Potential starting salary range: $85,500 - $110,000
