Job description

Job-ID: 17269; Location(s): Mantua OH 

The Electrical Technician is a mid-level role responsible for advanced troubleshooting, repair, and integration of electronic systems. This position builds on the foundational skills of Technician I, with added responsibility for leading complex projects, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring reliability of critical equipment. The role requires deeper expertise in automation, PLC programming, and system-level diagnostics.

What You'll Do:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Troubleshooting & Repair
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electronic, PLC, and automation system issues.
  • Perform component-level and system-level repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Lead root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures.

System Integration & Projects

  • Design, install, and commission control systems and retrofits.
  • Program, configure, and optimize PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and industrial networks.
  • Manage small-to-medium projects, including planning, documentation, and execution.

Mentorship & Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance and training to Electronics Technician I staff.
  • Review and approve work performed by junior technicians.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned equipment or systems.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations.
  • Recommend process improvements and technology

What We're Looking For:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer programs:  Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and SAP
  • Strong proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent)
  • Advanced knowledge of VFDs, HMIs, sensors, and industrial communication protocols
  • Ability to design, modify, and troubleshoot control circuits
  • Skilled in using advanced test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
  • Strong project management and documentation skills
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities
  • Working knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read electronic wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Ability to use hand tools for troubleshooting and repair

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on electronics/automation experience
  • Electronics certification
    • VFD and PLC programming
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Certifications in PLC programming, industrial networking, or advanced electronics preferred

Compensation

  • Base: $29 - $36 hourly, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
  • Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
