Job description

Job title - Oracle DBA
Location - Durham, NC
Duration - 12 months
Years of experience - 9 plus
Top Three Skills:
1. Senior level oracle dba experience in a test, production environment within Oracle databases that sit on a Linux OS - performance tuning, configuring, patching and backups.
2. Experience setting up a new database, migrating data from one database to another, Upgrading databases from 11c to 12g.
3. Strong communication skills - this person will be responsible for providing updates on timeline, progress to the PMs and the business. I
Job Description:
They will have backup from the database team as well as work closely with Steve Lorello's hosting team.
It is important that this person has excellent communication skills as they will be responsible for interacting with different business units.
Experience working within the command line in the Linux OS as 95% of the instances they are working with sit on top of Linux - being able to shut down a binary within the Linux command line.
As the databases get moved from DCRI to DHTS, they'll be setting up new db and importing the data over - this will require after hours work at times, so this person must be flexible with their schedule.
The vast majority of dbs are on 11g with DCRI, as the new instances are set up, they'll be upgrading to 12c.
Steve Tooley's team is currently made up of 7 full-time dbas. 4 are a blend of sql/oracle, 2 are focused on oracle and 1 is purely SQL.
Most of the other 7 are doing some upgrades, some security stuff, internal expansions but have been and will continue to do database migrations in assistance to this new consultant.
The current DHTS environment is made up of 60% oracle databases, 20% SQL, the remaining 20% is a mixture of MySQL, oracle exadata, db2 and imbedded post-gress
