Position Title: Database Administrator IV (Oracle / DB2)
Location: Raleigh, NC (Remote with initial onsite training in Raleigh, NC or Eagan, MN)

Note: Thursday through Monday, 11:30 PM ET - 8:30 AM ET. Final scheduling will be discussed during the interview process.
Position Description:
Seneca Resources is seeking an experienced Database Administrator IV to support a large-scale enterprise environment responsible for mission-critical database infrastructure. This role is ideal for a senior DBA with expertise in Oracle Database Administration, IBM DB2, Oracle E-Business Suite, and PostgreSQL who thrives in high-availability production environments. The selected candidate will be responsible for database installation, upgrades, patching, vulnerability remediation, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and production support across multiple enterprise database platforms. This position requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a 24x7 operational environment. This role is primarily remote; however, candidates must be willing to travel to Raleigh, NC or Eagan, MN during the initial onboarding period for equipment setup and training. Candidates must also be available for occasional onsite support when required. Please note that travel and lodging expenses are not reimbursed. The anticipated work schedule includes overnight and weekend coverage, with a tentative shift of Thursday through Monday, 11:30 PM ET - 8:30 AM ET. Final scheduling will be discussed during the interview process.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer, maintain, and support large-scale Oracle Database production environments.
  • Install, upgrade, patch, secure, and remediate vulnerabilities for Oracle RDBMS running on Linux servers.
  • Manage and support IBM DB2 databases across Mainframe, Linux, and Windows environments.
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, capacity planning, and health monitoring.
  • Support and maintain Oracle E-Business Suite, including installation, upgrades, patching, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Administer and support PostgreSQL databases in enterprise production environments.
  • Manage Oracle RAC clusters, RMAN backups, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), and high-availability database configurations.
  • Troubleshoot complex database performance and availability issues while ensuring maximum uptime.
  • Implement database security best practices, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and engineering teams during deployments and production releases.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide overnight and weekend production support.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and operational processes while mentoring junior team members as needed.

Required Skills/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Four (4) additional years of related experience may substitute for a non-related degree.
  • 13-20 years of overall IT experience supporting enterprise database environments.
  • Minimum 6 years of Oracle Production DBA experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Oracle RAC
    • Oracle RMAN
    • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
    • Oracle Database installation, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning
  • Minimum 4 years of IBM DB2 Production DBA experience.
  • Experience administering large, multi-node Oracle RAC environments.
  • Experience supporting Oracle E-Business Suite.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL database administration.
  • Strong SQL, database optimization, and query tuning experience.
  • Experience supporting Linux, Windows, and Mainframe database environments.
  • Experience performing database security patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-critical production environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving enterprise environments.
  • Must be available for overnight, weekend, and on-call support.
