BDO Canada

Full-time

Re-posted 15 days ago

Job description

Putting people first, every day

BDO is a firm built on a foundation of positive relationships with our people and our clients. Each day, our professionals provide exceptional service, helping clients with advice and insight they can trust. In turn, we offer an award-winning environment that fosters apeople-first culturewith a high priority on your personal and professional growth.

Your Opportunity

We're looking for a Databricks Solutions Architect who can bridge the worlds of technology, clients, and partnerships. This net-new role in our data team blends deep Databricks and Azure technical expertise with strategic client engagement and ecosystem collaboration.

You'll help clients shape their data, analytics, and AI strategies while cultivating trusted relationships with Databricks and Microsoft counterparts to drive co-innovation, joint solutions, and go-to-market impact. Beyond technical architecture, you'll play a critical role in identifying and advancing new client opportunities-leveraging partner programs, co-sell motions, and your industry insight to create measurable business growth for both BDO and our clients.

This is not a traditional technical delivery role. You'll be at the intersection of architecture, partnership, and business impact-representing BDO Digital at industry events, building thought leadership, and influencing enterprise clients' data modernization journeys.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Partnership Development

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with client technical and business stakeholders, acting as a strategic advisor for Databricks and Azure data platform initiatives.
  • Serve as BDO Digital's primary collaborator with Databricks field teams-engaging in joint account planning, co-selling, and go-to-market alignment.
  • Represent BDO at Databricks and Microsoft events, summits, and conferences to elevate brand presence and strengthen partner relationships.
  • Partner with BDO's account teams to uncover new opportunities within existing and prospective clients, aligning Databricks capabilities with client transformation goals.
  • Identify opportunities for platform adoption and help position BDO as a preferred implementation and advisory partner within the Databricks ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to develop solution offerings, proposals, and pursuits that align with growth objectives and partner incentives.
  • Contribute to pre-sales efforts, proposal development, and executive briefings to support business growth and client engagement.

Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Lead solution design for large-scale, enterprise-grade Databricks and Azure data platforms-including ingestion, transformation, governance, and AI/ML integration.
  • Define scalable architectures leveraging Databricks (Delta Lake, MLflow, Unity Catalog, Spark) and Azure services (Data Lake, Synapse, Data Factory, DevOps).
  • Partner with clients to define cloud migration and modernization strategies aligned with their business and data objectives.
  • Provide thought leadership on Databricks best practices, data mesh, data governance, and production-grade ML engineering.
  • Guide delivery teams on architecture patterns, optimization strategies, and implementation excellence.

Business Development & Growth Enablement

  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of Databricks-related opportunities through proactive engagement with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Translate technical capabilities into business value propositions that resonate with client executives.
  • Work with Databricks and Microsoft Partner Development Managers (PDMs) to identify joint pursuits and co-marketing initiatives.
  • Track partner metrics and success stories to demonstrate joint business impact and reinforce BDO's position as a top-tier Databricks partner.
  • Support internal teams in leveraging alliance incentives and partner programs to accelerate go-to-market outcomes.

Thought Leadership & Ecosystem Impact

  • Represent BDO Digital's Data & AI capabilities in industry forums, webinars, and events, building visibility that supports client acquisition and partnership growth.
  • Collaborate with Databricks and Microsoft to co-develop reference architectures, accelerators, and industry playbooks.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends across AI, MLOps, LLMs, and data governance to inform solution strategy.
  • Mentor junior architects and engineers, contributing to a culture of learning and innovation within the Data & AI practice.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years in data engineering, analytics, or architecture roles, including 3+ years designing or implementing Databricks solutions.
  • Expert proficiency in Databricks (Delta Lake, Apache Spark, MLflow, Unity Catalog) and Azure (Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse, DevOps).
  • Proven ability to translate complex business challenges into actionable data platform architectures.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with a track record of engaging executives and influencing decision-makers.
  • Strong consulting acumen: able to balance technical excellence with business context and client value.

Preferred / Assets

  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP Databricks environments.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, MLOps, and data governance frameworks.
  • Professional certifications: Databricks Certified Data Engineer / Solution Architect, Microsoft Azure Data Engineer, or similar.
  • Experience working with or for major cloud or data platform partners (e.g., Microsoft, Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Exposure to co-sell or joint go-to-market models with technology partners.

The expected range of compensation for this role is $115,000 - $165,000.
