Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced Jr. Localization Executive to help the Global Localization team localize and prepare content for launch and distribution. The Jr. Localization Executive will be assigned (specific or low complexity) film and series titles, relying on their best judgment to navigate through various situations leveraging defined and established workflows to locate the best path forward. They will assist other team members, capture data to articulate potential improvements, and initiate escalation to ensure quality customer experience.
They will track assigned series and movies production and delivery progress while overseeing the processing of all required assets from third-party production facilities through Amazon's contracted vendors for end-to-end ownership of localization and preparation for distribution to 3P partners and/or Prime Video (PV) - to ensure global release timetables are met. They must update and maintain various schedules, keep internal and external stakeholders up-to-date throughout production, manage localization progress, pursue source materials, organize assets for final distribution, troubleshoot any upstream or downstream rejections, and assess and act on Customer feedback. Additionally, the Jr. Localization Executive will also serve as the subject matter expert for their film and series' main title translations, ensuring all translated and adapted main titles adhere to established language style guides and preserve the creative intent of the original content.
The role will liaise between current productions and third-party localization vendors on work related to the translation/adaptation, casting, recording, and versioning of Amazon MGM Studios Originals content for global release. They will build relationships, troubleshoot situations, identify trends, and help achieve alignment across a variety of global vendors as well as internal teams (including Studios Content Services, Programming Strategy, Legal, Business Affairs, Creative, Marketing, Post, and Production). As a Jr. Executive, they can leverage opportunities to enhance their knowledge on department wide initiatives and tiger teams that contribute to tooling and AI requirements, workflow optimizations, and maintenance of style/language guidelines to ensure linguistic accuracy, cultural resonance, and brand consistency across all target languages.
This position will also partner with Localization Cost Management staff to track and monitor expenditures for all localization related work. The role is responsible for localization across Global and Local Originals, including Films, Series, Specials, Sports, and Near-Live type content. The ideal candidate must be able to handle a heavily administrative day-to-day while they monitor industry trends and seek to raise the bar for customer experience.
In addition to core responsibilities, this position will support special projects including language expansion and accessibility backfill efforts - working to extend localization coverage into new languages and territories while ensuring previously released content meets current accessibility and localization standards. The role will also manage an assortment of administrative responsibilities including maintaining internal tracking databases, updating documentation and reference materials, coordinating cross-functional meeting logistics, data collection and analysis, and supporting reporting needs for leadership.
A day in the life
A Jr. Localization Executive must vet music clearances, actor contracts, IP rights, and title clearances before work commences, and account for edits in Special Compliance Territories that require care and sensitivity. A Jr. Localization Executive ensures receipt of source/target materials to maintain schedules and plan for contingencies whilst managing changes that need to be cascaded to downstream teams. They must oversee the Music and Effects audio component to safeguard useable assets for foreign dubbing, and that align with legal rights. Production schedules are unpredictable but directly impact timelines, and must be kept in line to maintain global release/launch.
About the team
Global Localization at Amazon MGM Studios is responsible for creating subtitled and/or dubbed versions of our content for more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Our team ensures localized content conveys the original creative intent and is adapted with appropriate linguistic and cultural references for our global Customers. The team oversees the human, creative, and technical aspects of localization from greenlight through distribution. Our global Customers should relish the holistic quality of our product, as they enjoy the exclusive experience of material tailored just for them.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of experience with a variety of centralized Subtitling, Dubbing, and/or Accessibility localization workflows and product types, including films or series across multiple regions and languages, and experience working in the local office of a global studio or post-production environment geared toward work with the same
- 2+ years of experience with acquisition and delivery of assets from producing entities to a studio or vendor
- 2+ years of direct experience with 3P vendor utilization and schedule management from the beginning (greenlight) to end (distribution) of global films and/or episodic television life cycles
- 2+ years of direct experience with the creation or improvement of a variety of digital media workflows and asset management
- 2+ years of documented ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, under urgent timelines with limited oversight
- 2+ years of experience in a global studio or post-production environment geared toward work on episodic Television (experience with Features is also a plus)

- Proven communication skills and narrative writing ability
- Self-motivated to work independently and contribute to cross-functional teams
- Subject Matter Expertise in entertainment, post-production, and localization
- Subject Matter Expertise across a wide array of distribution workflows and windows
- Familiarity with foreign languages is a plus, but not essential to succeed in this role
- Experience working across time zones with global teams
- Familiarity with budget management and reporting
- Awareness of current trends and approaches to AI aided localization workflows
- Experience with component-based localization and mastering workflows such as IMF or MMC

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
