About the role

As a Senior Java Full Stack Developer, you will make an impact by designing and developing secure, scalable, and high-performance applications using Java and Spring Boot. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, and UX teams to deliver reliable, end-to-end solutions.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead, design, and develop scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Build and maintain microservices-based systems that emphasize reliability, resilience, and observability.
  • Design and optimize Oracle database schemas, SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and event-driven solutions using Kafka.
  • Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, and UX teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance, stability, and maintainability.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automation initiatives to streamline delivery and deployment.
Work model

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring three days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Plano, Texas, and two days remotely.

What you need to have to be considered
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in backend or full-stack Java development.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Java, with strong experience using Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem.
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, Kafka, and distributed systems.
  • Strong experience with Oracle databases, including SQL, PL/SQL, schema design, and performance tuning.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and application-development best practices.
  • Experience using Git and CI/CD tools to support software development and deployment.
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
These will help you stand out
  • Experience with cloud-based application development and containerized environments.
  • Familiarity with application monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability tools.
  • Experience with automated testing and deployment practices.

Compensation
