Job description

Job Description:

Quevera is seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer with AWS DevOps experience and an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to support mission-critical programs in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.

In this role, you will develop, maintain, enhance, test, integrate, and support backend software solutions within an Agile development environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong Amazon Web Services (AWS) and DevOps-oriented engineering experience, along with experience using Git, Java, C++, or Python, relational databases, and SQL.

You will work individually and as part of a collaborative engineering team to analyze requirements, develop and modify software, support testing and system installation, maintain technical documentation, improve development processes, and ensure the quality and performance of software operating within AWS-supported environments.


Work Schedule:

  • Telework: Up to 16 hours per week. Telework availability is dependent upon sprint tasking and program requirements.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, enhance, test, and support backend software solutions within Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments
  • Apply DevOps-oriented software engineering practices to support software integration, testing, installation, quality control, and process improvement. 
  • Use Git to support software development and source code management. 
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements. 
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features. 
  • Debug existing software and correct defects. 
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments. 
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance. 
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, system flow, data usage, work processes, and problem areas. 
  • Develop data queries for existing or proposed databases and data repositories. 
  • Design or implement database and data repository interfaces and queries. 
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet system performance and functional standards. 
  • Support the development and execution of test procedures for software components. 
  • Ensure quality control of developed and modified software. 
  • Support software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met. 
  • Recommend and implement improvements to software development processes and documentation standards. 
  • Write, review, and maintain software, system, and technical documentation. 
  • Work with system and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and obtain information regarding project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces. 
  • Collaborate within an Agile development environment using Jira and Confluence.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required. 
  • Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. 
  • Four (4) years of additional Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. 
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience applying DevOps-oriented practices to software development, integration, testing, deployment support, or process improvement. 
  • Experience with Git
  • Experience with Java, C++, or Python
  • Experience with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL. 
  • Experience with SQL. 
  • Experience supporting the development and execution of test procedures for software components. 
  • Experience ensuring quality control of developed and modified software. 
  • Experience generating and maintaining technical documentation. 
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment. 
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence.
