This position works closely with the Desktop Support Analyst and Junior Systems Administrator roles and serves as a technical mentor and escalation resource, driving infrastructure modernization initiatives, leading complex projects, and acting as a subject matter expert (SME) for Azure, virtualization platforms, and enterprise networking.

The Infrastructure Engineer will also play a key role in infrastructure integration and modernization associated with company acquisitions, including network architecture, server migrations, and identity integration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Infrastructure Architecture & Engineering:

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network architecture utilizing Aruba, Meraki, and Fortinet technologies.
  • Own and maintain network standards including VLAN design, IP addressing, routing, redundancy, and segmentation.
  • Configure and support Fortinet firewalls, including HA, SD-WAN, site-to-site VPNs, and remote access solutions.
  • Manage Aruba switching and wireless environments, including centralized management via Aruba Central.
  • Lead network expansion and modernization projects across warehouse and office environments.
  • Validate vendor designs and implementations to ensure alignment with company standards and best practices.

Cloud & Microsoft Platform Engineering:

  • Serve as the Azure subject matter expert, leading cloud architecture decisions and hands-on implementation.
  • Design and manage Azure Virtual Machines, networking, and supporting services.
  • Architect and maintain hybrid identity solutions integrating on-premises Active Directory with Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Lead improvements to the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, and security configurations.

Virtualization & Server Infrastructure:

  • Design, manage, and support virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Maintain virtual machine lifecycle including provisioning, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Support and maintain Windows Server environments and supporting infrastructure services.
  • Plan and execute server migrations from on-premises environments to Azure or modern platforms.
  • Manage storage, backup, and disaster recovery strategies for virtual and physical infrastructure.

Infrastructure Integration & Modernization:

  • Participate in infrastructure planning and integration for company acquisitions, including:
  • Network connectivity and architecture
  • Active Directory and identity integration
  • Server and application migrations
  • Security alignment and standardization
  • Identify opportunities to modernize legacy infrastructure and move toward cloud or hybrid solutions.
  • Security & Reliability Engineering:
  • Partner with IT leadership to strengthen the organization’s security posture across network, cloud, and server platforms.
  • Assist with investigation and remediation of security or infrastructure incidents.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and performance visibility across core infrastructure platforms.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Act as the highest escalation point for complex technical issues beyond desktop and junior systems administration scope.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to the Junior Systems Administrator and Desktop Support Analyst.
  • Establish and maintain infrastructure documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders on infrastructure initiatives.
  • Provide technical planning input, timelines, and risk assessments for infrastructure projects.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
