What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, and drafters while mentoring junior team members
- Perform building system assessments, document existing conditions, and prepare reports with refurbishment or replacement recommendations
- Develop scopes of work for mechanical system designs
- Present mechanical design concepts, challenges, and solutions clearly to owners and project teams
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation analysis, and mechanical equipment selection
- Design HVAC systems using BIM tools, including layouts and system visualization
- Integrate sustainability strategies and best practices into building designs
- Ensure designs meet client expectations, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare probable construction cost estimates for mechanical systems
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal disciplines
- Research emerging technologies, products, and mechanical systems
- Compile system specifications, schedules, and construction details
- Perform field observations and verify adherence to design intent
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 4+ years of mechanical design experience for buildings in healthcare, education, community, or commercial markets
- Designer of Engineering Systems (DES) credential or Professional Engineer (PE) license
- LEED accreditation preferred
- Demonstrated project experience with a strong technical portfolio
- Experience with Revit, BIM software, and Bluebeam preferred
- Experience with Carrier Hourly Analysis preferred, but not required
