Job description

Position Overview

System High Corporation delivers advanced protection and secrecy solutions to secure and strengthen critical missions, programs, and intelligence activities. We support some of the nation's most sensitive efforts, and our team plays a direct role in protecting what matters most.

We are seeking a high-velocity, autonomous Front End Developer to join our remote engineering team. This role is designed for a modern UI professional who doesn't just build clean user interfaces, but actively leverages cutting-edge development tools to bypass traditional bottlenecks.

Positioned comfortably above market average for mid-level engineers, this role values execution speed, architectural ownership, and technical adaptability over raw years of legacy tenure. You will own the application layer end-to-end, translating design concepts into seamless production features while using scripting and AI-assisted engineering tools (such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor) to multiply your daily output. If you are a proactive problem solver who thrives at the intersection of clean UI architecture and modern developer workflows, this position offers the runway and autonomy to make a massive impact. You will operate within a streamlined Agile/Scrum environment, where clear communication and iterative delivery are central to our execution strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Ownership: Own the frontend codebase end-to-end, managing framework routing, robust state management, build tooling, performance, and accessibility.
  • Rapid UI Scaffolding: Translate design frameworks and functional requirements into polished, high-performance web applications with exceptional velocity.
  • Workflow Optimization: Actively integrate AI development tools into your daily workflow to accelerate boilerplate creation, unit testing, and debugging, serving as an internal model for engineering efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Bridging: Write utility scripts to automate repetitive UI tasks, data formatting, and local environment setups, reducing dependence on backend and DevOps teams.
  • API Integration: Securely and efficiently interface with backend APIs, managing complex data structures and payload serialization with confidence.
  • Agile Execution: Actively participate in all Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Grooming, and Retrospectives), providing accurate effort estimations and technical insights.
  • Iterative Delivery: Break down complex frontend feature requests into manageable, well-defined user stories and technical tasks that support consistent sprint velocity.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional software engineering experience dedicated to modern frontend frameworks.
  • Core Stack: Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, and TypeScript, with a deep understanding of component design patterns and responsive layouts.
  • Technical Autonomy: Proven ability to step outside the UI sandbox-basic scripting capabilities (e.g., Node.js, Python, or Bash) to handle local dev environments, automate workflows, or parse data.
  • Modern AI Workflows: Demonstrated familiarity with AI-prompting and AI-assisted development tools for code generation, documentation, and troubleshooting, with the critical thinking skills to validate and optimize the output.
  • Remote Competency: Excellent written communication and asynchronous collaboration skills, with a track record of driving initiatives forward independently.
  • Agile Execution: Actively participate in all Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Grooming, and Retrospectives), providing accurate effort estimations and technical insights.
  • Iterative Delivery: Break down complex frontend feature requests into manageable, well-defined user stories and technical tasks that support consistent sprint velocity.

Desired Qualifications

  • Design-to-Code Agility: Experience working as a "design engineer" or closely with design systems, capable of taking high-level UI briefs and executing them with minimal micro-management or reliance on hyper-detailed design files.
  • Advanced Scripting: Familiarity with writing automation for CI/CD pipelines, build configurations, or testing scripts.
  • Emerging Tech Familiarity: Exposure to or interest in interfacing apps with LLM endpoints, vector embeddings, or intelligent application layers.
  • Tools & Stewardship: Experience utilizing project management and issue-tracking tools (like Jira or Linear) to self-manage tasks, document technical implementation details, and maintain transparency across a distributed team.
