Job description
The Tennis Programs & Events Coordinator will lead operations and development for the Tennis Center's Tennis and Pickleball programs and events. The Coordinator will serve as a liaison to various clubs, leagues, renters, and community members to grow programs, increase community engagement, and enhance positive customer experiences. The Coordinator will also lead all event planning and development for events hosted on Center grounds, or events hosted to support the Tennis Center. This role also leads Junior tennis programming.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Coordinates, develops, and leads adult tennis and pickleball programming, including organizing and managing various tennis leagues and recreational activities.
2. Plans, schedules, and facilitates tennis and pickleball drills, clinics, and instructional lessons for all levels.
3. Ensures leagues, drills, and lessons are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Tennis Center policies and procedures.
4. Monitors program participation, evaluates effectiveness, and recommends enhancements to improve the participant experience. Researches new ideas and trends and makes recommendations to Director of the Tennis Center to implement new program offerings.
5. Maintains program offerings by recruiting, selecting, hiring, and overseeing the performance of additional instructors. Collaborate with instructors and Tennis Center staff to coordinate schedules, events, and programs that support overall operational goals and makes recommendations to the Director of the Tennis Center.
6. Assists the Director of the Tennis Center with maintaining Tennis Center operations for seasonal members. Assists by processing payments and maintaining accurate membership records, conducting outreach and solicitation efforts to cultivate patron engagement and grow membership participation, and developing and implementing strategies to increase awareness and utilization of Tennis Center programs and services.
7. Serves as a liaison to USTA Leagues and Teams, as well as other organizations interested in hosting Tennis or Pickleball events for Juniors and adult players.
8. Organizes events and tournaments for various organizations (USTA, UTR, ITF, WTA/ATP) or renters (high school tournaments) by meeting with clients and collaborating to develop event schedules, coordinating timelines appropriate for tournament brackets, ensuring access for proper facilities and equipment, and assisting with staffing matters as needed. Ensures compliance with league regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies.
9. Evaluates event outcomes and implements continuous improvements to enhance participant experiences.
10. Assists the Director of the Tennis Center to plan, coordinate, and lead various Tennis and Pickleball fundraising events, community outreach initiatives, and revenue generating social events, leagues and tournaments. Develops promotional events and membership initiatives that drive revenue growth and customer retention.
11. Builds and maintains relationships with patrons, members, and community partners and to develop and enhance positive customer experiences, and increase community engagement and participation.
12. Assists Director of the Tennis Center with managing event budgets, logistics, and performance metrics.
13. Collaborates with internal teams to create promotional materials, presentations, and communications to support fundraising campaigns and outreach activities.
14. Assists with various tasks to support daily maintenance of the Tennis center as needed
15. Assists the Director of Tennis Center with scheduling and processing court rentals, pickleball rentals, and other coordination tasks for the Pickleball Club team and Tennis Club team.
16. Coordinates USTA Junior Tennis team.
17. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in experience.
• 3 years' experience in event coordination, operations, and program planning
• Prior experience playing tennis and pickleball
Preferred Education & Experience:
• Prior coaching tennis and pickleball lessons, camps, or clinics.
• Experience hosting athletic events and tournaments.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of event planning principles, practices, and project management techniques.
• Knowledge of Tennis and Pickleball rules, regulations, and skill building

• Ability to supervise volunteers, temporary staff, or event personnel.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, as required by event schedules.
